    Fontanafredda Emanuele Guerrieri Conte di Mirafiore owes his success as a winery and his rise to one of the most respected producers of the Langhe to Emanuele Guerrieri Conte di Mirafiore, who managed the estate from 1878. Here in Serralunga d'Alba, located in the province of Cuneo, northwest of the river Belbo, produces world-famous wines with Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera. This magnificent winery, rich in tradition, is owned by the E. di Mirafiore Foundation of Oscar Farinetti, founder of the Eataly food chain sponsored by Slow Food, and Luca Baffigo Filangieri. Both had acquired Paschi di Siena from Bank Monte to Fontanafredda in 2008. Since 2010 the company is called Casa E. di Mirafiore Fontanafredda. The winery is managed by Giovanni Minetti.

    Fontanafredda is a model company for the Italian wine industry and focuses on natural viticulture, biodiversity and energy saving. Without weed killers, chemical fertilizers and excessive addition of sulphites, the very wide range of wines from this romantic and deeply inspiring winery is always authentic and of high quality. Fontanafredda, by the way, also rejects fleeting trends and superfluous packaging. The organic wine line of the estate includes the Barolo Riserva and the Barolo Lazzarito Vigna La Delizia.

    The vineyards of Fontanafredda, between 200 and 400 metres high, are located in the municipalities of Serralunga d'Alba, Diano d'Alba, Barolo and Murisengo. They are mainly planted with the traditional varieties Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Moscato. Top locations include Vigna La Rosa, Lazzarito and Vigna La Villa. Great attention is paid to the purchase of grapes from leased plots. Stylistically, the production is strictly defined. The terroir and the characteristics of the grape varieties are convincingly expressed. The great red wines are aged in oak barrels and steel tanks in imposing 19th century cellars. Both demanding connoisseurs and the broad mass of wine drinkers are equally addressed by the large battery of bottles. SUPERIORE.DE
