Cognos Nascetta is made from the autochthonous grape of the same name, which is said to be related to the Vermentino grape. An exceptionally good taste experience! SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of fresh herbs, white flowers, lemon peel and pear slices. The palate is medium-bodied, lively and taut, with crisp acidity and a zesty, slightly phenolic finish. Drink now." James Suckling

Full of vibrant freshness and good energy as it progresses. SUPERIORE.DE
"Notes of sour cherries and redcurrants with citrus peel and floral undertones. Juicy and flavoursome with a medium body and crisp red berry character. Lively finish." James Suckling

"The Barbera d'Alba Bricco dei Merli 2021 shows a wonderfully fruity, almost juicy personality that paints an authentic portrait of this grape variety. The winemaking team at Congo has worked out its approach to elegant wines. Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2020
Cognos Barbaresco from the top Bordini vineyard is a centred and firm Nebbiolo that is one of the more powerful representatives of the appellation. However, it only reveals its great aromatic potential at second glance: Cherry, blackberry, hints of spice and a little freshly chopped mint. Then some speculoos, walnut, salty tones and tobacco. Acidity and tannin form a perfect symbiosis and at the same time the backbone of this impressive Barbaresco, which will give pleasure for many years to come. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Elvio Cogno 2020 Barbaresco Bordini is particularly powerful and powerful in terms of fruit. This expression of a hot vintage offers a medium fruit texture with a classic presentation of cherry, redcurrant, liquorice, blue flower and spice. It needs a few more years of bottle age, but we are not far from optimal drinking maturity." Wine Advocate
"A bright, well-defined red with aromas and flavours of cherries, strawberries, liquorice and wild herbs. Smooth in texture, it firms up nicely, with finely crafted tannins and a lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Attractive raspberries and cherries with a hint of roselle and red spices. Also some blood orange. Medium to full-bodied, polished and refined with compact tannins and a velvety texture. It is ripe but fresh, with a pure and lively red fruit character and a long finish. Attractive now, but even better after 2025." James Suckling
"Dusty red berries and raspberry aromas intertwine with chalky notes, creating an electric and energetic aromatic profile. The wine showcases fine yet firm tannins, displaying excellent structure with a core of tart red fruits today that will give way over time to more of the wine's savory and mineral characteristics." Bright ruby garnet. Supple and expressive on the palate with sweet red cherries, blood orange, mint, wild flowers, cedar, sweet tobacco and anise. Very fine tannins on the palate, spicy, delicate and at the same time very rich and clear, long and balsamic on the final. Every year, Cascina Nuova is a prime example that excellent Barolos can be produced at moderate prices. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling garnet red. Slightly smoky on the nose at first, then of rich wild berries and ripe plums, a touch of forest floor in the aftertaste. Fresh and juicy on the palate, with lots of fruit, fine-grained tannin, long and spicy finish." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby. Floral and precise raspberry nose underpinned by concentrated sour cherry. Real finesse on the nose. Full, perfectly ripe sour-cherry palate. Crunchy tannins reined in by the fruit on the finish. Truly fine." Jancis Robinson
"Enticing aromas of red berries, citrus fruit and flowers follow through to a bright, silky palate with medium body and very fine tannins. Lacks a bit of body this year, but it’s bright, balanced and well focused." James Suckling
"The profile is lighter and fresher, with rose, dry mushrooms, leafy lightness, strawberry fruit and tar. The attack is all strawberry and pomegranate, with ripe and velvety tannins and brilliant acidity. It seems to be brief but instead is just light, precise and tasty." Decanter
"The 2018 Barolo Cascina Nuova is fine-tuned with plenty of wild berry, cassis, grilled herb and crushed stone. The aromas are quite classic for Nebbiolo, but what stands out here is the directness and freshness with which they are delivered. The tannins are tucked carefully inside the smooth, silky character of this elegant wine." Wine Advocate
"The immediacy and cleanliness of Elvio Cogno for a Barolo of freshness, from the new vineyards. Strawberry tree on the nose, with notes of rosehip and chinotto, closed by hints of wild mint. Sip with iodine-brackish tannins, fruity and mentholated return." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Cascina Nuova” DOCG 2019
Bright ruby-garnet colour. Smooth and expressive on the palate, with sweet red cherries, blood orange, mint, wild flowers, cedar wood, sweet tobacco and aniseed. Very fine tannins on the palate, spicy, delicate and at the same time very rich and clear, with a long, balsamic final. Every year, Cascina Nuova is a prime example of how excellent Barolos can be produced at moderate prices. SUPERIORE.DE
"A beguiling bouquet of cherries, dried flowers and herbs; juicy on the palate with perfectly integrated tannins, striking acidity and a long final." Vinum
"Brilliant medium ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Still a little closed and with savoury, spicy notes. Serious and complex, it opens slowly to red fruits with a hint of black pepper, but more mineral than fruity or sweet. Still very compact and closed on the palate. Really elegant and refreshing, with firm tannins accompanying the fresh fruit on the finish. Serious stuff." Jancis Robinson
"The Barolo Cascina Nuova 2019 is bright, exuberant and beautifully lifted, straight out of the gate. Crushed flowers, dried herbs, sweet red cherries, cinnamon, spices and candy rise from the glass. Light and medium-bodied, with plenty of vigour, the 2019 is an absolute delight. I really like its energy. The concise Ravera tannins are also handled well." Vinous
"Balanced and harmonious, this red wine offers flavours of cherries, raspberries, spices, minerals and chocolate, supported by a backbone of refined tannins. It becomes even more concentrated in the long, mineral and spicy aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The Cascina Nuova 2019 is initially somewhat reductive, but then opens up and reveals the freshness of lemon leaves, redcurrants and pomegranate as well as the aromatic depth of lemon thyme. The attack is very elegant, almost silky at first, then a little dusty on the finish with a light extraction. Possibly not too concentrated, but impressively good and graceful." Decanter
"This aromatic Barolo opens with wild red berries, fresh herbs and dried roses to create an aromatic lift that will captivate you. On the palate, it delights with light-footed, macerated raspberries dusted with spice, leading to a minerality of crushed chalk and fine tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Attractive primary flavours of crushed strawberries and stones follow through to a full body with fine and polished tannins and a lovely, fresh finish. Vibrant is a good word to describe this wine overall. Best after 2026." James Suckling
"The Elvio Cogno 2019 Barolo Cascina Nuova is the most accessible of the many excellent Barolos produced by this leading winery in the municipality of Novello. The fundamental value this wine offers is even more irresistible in a classic vintage like 2019. The wine opens beautifully in the glass and unfolds its aromas of redcurrants and wild berries. This is accompanied by varietal notes of liquorice, cola and camphor ash in a firm, medium-weight texture." Wine Advocate
"Brilliant garnet red with a ruby red shimmer. Rich raspberries and ripe plums on the nose, with a slightly smoky aftertaste and forest floor flavour. Fresh and juicy on the palate, with fine-grained tannins and a long final." Falstaff
"A Barolo of great freshness, with the proverbial cleanliness of Elvio Cogno, coming from the younger vineyards. Raspberry on the nose, with notes of peony and clementine peel, closed by hints of mint Valdostana. The mouthfeel shows iodized tannins, supported by citrus-floral return." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with vines that are almost 50 years old. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening flavour. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures everything good that the vintage has to offer. Cherry, sweet mint, candy and expressive floral notes are given an extra kick of inner sweetness by Ravera's natural energy. There is so much to look forward to as the wine develops over the next few years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant, deep ruby red colour. Stunning raspberry nose with a hint of crushed blackcurrant. Smooth but still a little austere with super long, muscular tannins that are still a little restless. Perfect balance between fruit and supple acidity. Enormous length without being heavy. Not yet ripe." Jancis Robinson
"Extremely engaging bouquet of red berries, leather and tobacco; juicy on the palate, the tannins are well integrated, ending on an inspiringly complex note of fruit, herbs and hot stone. A seducer that should be enjoyed with food." Vinum
"The 2019 Barolo Ravera combines finesse with the energy that is typical of all wines from this part of the appellation. Tasted alongside the 2018, it has a wonderful inner sweetness and a captivating perfume that matches its medium-weight personality. Candy sugar, blood orange, mint, iron, spices and dried flowers open up in the glass. Again, the tannins are admirably balanced for a young Ravera Barolo." Vinous
"There is a lot in this complex red wine. In addition to flavours of cherries, strawberries, earth, spices and iron, there are also hints of menthol and tobacco. Harmonious, with a long, resonant finish that reflects both the fruit and the spicy notes." Wine Spectator
"Bright ruby-garnet colour, shiny. Red peach, mint and raspberry on the nose, with fine floral notes, multi-layered and complex, inviting. On the palate with polished fruit and supple tannins, very elegant, comes in many layers, with a long salty finish." Falstaff
"The bouquet is a heady palette of essential oils of orange peel, peach kernel and sweet violets, with some foliage and cinnamon candy. This sweetness of flavours is enveloped by youthful and grainy, yet velvety and elegant tannins, which are combined with the crisp, if not piquant, acidity of Ravera. A wine rich in extracts, where the power is emphasised by its freshness, with a very precise finish." Decanter
"The tannins are pure and long, of a steely and muscular nature, but well integrated. Full and toned. This is a wine for the cellar, already showing beautiful floral and blue fruit flavours. Drink it after 2029." James Suckling
"This wine opens the window to one of the best cru sites in the appellation - the Ravera vineyard on the Novello side, where steep hills descend from a castle perched on a beautiful panorama. From this vantage point, you can see Novello and the Elvio Cogno winery, which is located halfway up the slope. The Barolo Ravera 2019 benefits from this special location and represents a broader network of selected fruit from the entire vineyard of the estate. As a result, the Ravera often displays a particular versatility and depth. The 2019 vintage offers wild berries, blackcurrants, tart fruit, iodine and campfire ash. It is on the darker and more concentrated side of the Barolo spectrum." Wine Advocate
"Crushed raspberries and sour cherries lift from the glass, with hints of rosebud, thyme and leather. The elegant palate showcases proper tannin management with supple tannin, and vibrant acidity creating an elegant profile. The palate continues with notes of red nectarine, macerated raspberries and crushed stones that are all additive as the wine will continue to develop with time in the cellar." Wine Enthusiast
"From the famous Novello vineyard, a Barolo with temperament and character. On the nose, freshness, nectarine, white melon, then bay leaf and finally nuances of nutmeg. On the palate, sensations of blood orange, salty, tense and shaking, with a recurring fruit." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ravera “Bricco Pernice” DOCG 2017
Dark cherries, menthol, flowers and tar are just some of the classic notes in the complex bouquet of the Bricco Pernice from the Ravera single vineyard. On the palate, the austere structure and great power are joined by a fine inner sweetness. In the long finish, memories of damp earth, dried herbs and wild flowers. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. A little rich on the nose but not lacking in precision and showing great depth. Still not completely open. Brooding but with aeration becomes more floral and perfumed. Mouth-filling juicy fruit with polished, fine, almost velvety tannins. Closes up on the finish but showing impeccable balance. Outstanding for the vintage." Jancis Robinson
"Deep-set nose of bright, spicy cherry with layers of minerals, from chalk to river stones. Medium-to full-bodied with really nicely placed, still firm tannins and excellent spicy and mineral drive on the finish. There’s a cool feel to the palate. This is in the full bloom of youth and, though attractive now, will age nicely. Try from 2024." James Suckling
"This is a medium-bodied Nebbiolo from a hot vintage with a ruby-tinged appearance. The 2017 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice shows generous inner fiber and richness with dried cherry, blackberry, plum and dark spice. Fruit for this wine comes from a beautiful amphitheater of vines with the perched town of Novello high up on the skyline. I love the especially smooth and soft quality to what is a powerful and lasting wine. Only 3,500 bottles were made." Wine Advocate
"A pretty red, boasting rose, strawberry and raspberry flavors accented by mown hay, leather, iron and tobacco. In terms of texture and structure, this is like an iron fist in a velvet glove. Fine length." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barolo Bricco Pernice is superb. Silky and soft, with gorgeous textural finesse, the 2017 is all class right out of the gate. Hints of rose petal, orange zest, cinnamon and star anise meld into sweet red cherry and raspberry fruit. The 2017 can be enjoyed now or cellared. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous wine in every way." Vinous
"Defying the heat of the scorching vintage, this fragrant red has aromas of iris, violet, wild berry, leather and eucalyptus. On the full-bodied, delicious palate, fresh acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins support dried cherry, nutmeg and licorice before a tobacco finish." Wine Enthusiast

"Medium ruby red with orange. A pretty, lifted, complex bouquet with spicy, mineral top notes and minty oak notes. Needs a lot of air. Cranberry and raspberry with crisp tannins. A Barolo of the cool climate. Its character is closer to the excellent 2019 vintage than 2018. Great length and precision." Jancis Robinson

"Perfumed, it exudes aromas of rose, cherry, raspberry, anise and menthol, with berry fruit persisting on the palate along with mineral and herbal flavours. Although expressive and balanced, it shows tannin and should develop well." Wine Spectator
"Bright, shiny ruby garnet with brightening rim. Great, inviting nose of fresh mint, blackberries, liquorice, then raspberries and candied rose petal. Very polished and with a creamy texture on the palate, tightly woven salty tannin wraps the clear fruit, subtle notes of blood orange, very elegant and long." Falstaff

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with almost 50-year-old vines. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening aroma. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures all the goodness the vintage has to offer. Cherry, sweet mint, candy and expressive floral notes get an extra kick of inner sweetness from the Ravera's natural energy. There is so much to look forward to as the wine develops over the next few years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Glorious nose of perfumed, intensely lifted cherry. Hints of black pepper and minerally stony notes. Compact, embryonic and concentrated fruit on the palate with bags of powdery tannins and succulent acidity. Great balance and length. Lots of potential." Jancis Robinson
"The 2017 Barolo Ravera is a beautiful, precise wine. Bright acids and veins of tannin give the 2017 terrific energy that carries all the way through to the finish. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, chalk, white pepper and spice all open with a bit of coaxing. This is very nicely done." Vinous
"A tightly wound, linear red, this reveals steeped cherry and plum flavors, with shadings of tar, eucalyptus and licorice. The dense matrix of tannins rules the finish, yet this shows nice equilibrium overall." Wine Spectator
"Cherry and candied strawberry with flowers and some dried earth. Full-bodied, layered and chewy. Lots of wet earth and mushroom to the red fruit." James Suckling
"The Ravera cru is seeing renewed energy and interest, thanks to the hard work of the Elvio Cogno team. They believed in Novello from the very beginning, and today a wine like the 2017 Barolo Ravera shows special confidence and pride. This pretty Barolo made with a blend of Nebbiolo clones (Lampia and Michet) reveals a slow succession of aromas with dark cherry and blackberry. The results are lasting, contoured and beautifully focused, thanks to mineral notes of rusty iron or brick. Nuanced notes of licorice and campfire ash round off the finish." Wine Advocate
"Made by the estate that put this celebrated cru on the map, and showing an enviable combination of elegance and power, this stunning wine opens with aromas of wild berries, underbrush, dark spice and balsamic notes of cedar and new leather. The tense, savory palate is loaded with youthful energy, showing succulent Marasca cherry, raspberry, cinnamon and star anise framed in tightly knit, refined tannins and surprisingly bright acidity for the vintage. A mineral note suggesting iron adds depth to the close." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo Ravera “Vigna Elena” Riserva DOCG 2017
Barolo Riserva Ravera Vigna Elena is a beautiful wine from Elvio Cogno and, not surprisingly, as is so often the case, the best from the collection of the family-run winery from Novello. It is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and produced only in selected vintages. It exudes delicate truffle notes and aromas of wild berries with a hint of exotic spice. The wine is soft, lush and well-structured, and it makes your mouth water. This Barolo shows the power and inner structure of the Ravera Cru and should age beautifully over the next two decades. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just medium ruby red with orange reflections. Still very backward and closed on the nose. Amazing depth and fine mineral notes coming out of the glass. Wonderful richness of cherry fruit, underpinned by long, velvety tannins. Juicy integrated acidity. Perfect balance. Hedonistic without sacrificing elegance." Jancis Robinson
"Needs some aeration, but then aromas of wild berries, pepper and flowers entice, well cushioned by the wood; in the mouth harmonious and yet with race, the tannins promising and well integrated, intense and yet of great elegance the final." Vinum
"The Barolo Riserva Ravera Vigna Elena 2017 is a very beautiful, aromatic wine. Dried cherry, tobacco, cedar, spices and mint give the Vigna Elena its characteristic aromas. The 2017 is a very nice medium-bodied Barolo and very graceful. I imagine it will drink well with minimal ageing." Vinous
"Notes of dried cherries and strawberries, ground spices, ripe orange peel, walnuts and sandalwood. Medium to full-bodied. The tannins are velvety and well integrated with a dusty texture. Complete and balanced with a polished finish." James Suckling
"This is Cogno's top wine, a micro-vinification of the rosé Nebbiolo clone from an even more tightly defined parcel. The 2017 Barolo Riserva Ravera Vigna Elena is a hot-season expression with a broad and rich personality that matches the character of the growing season. In addition to this textural support, this wine is also more approachable and ready to go. Blackberries mingle with liquorice roots, cola and spices." Wine Advocate
"Bright, medium dense garnet red. Finely marked nose with rich notes of raspberry, some pickled peach, fresh plum in the background. Shows very interwoven on the palate, pithy tannin, well integrated as it progresses, has rich pressure, fine spice in the finish, lots of tobacco." Falstaff
"This 2017 shines with its elegance of Parma violets combined with cinnamon spice, an understated soapy rosewater scent and a spicy depth of camphor and subtle balsam. The attack is velvety, full, smooth and refreshing. The palate is dominant, and the finish shows a glycerine layer and lifted acidity with extremely elegant tannins." Decanter
"Supple and with aromas of cherries, raspberries, roses, liquorice and minerals, this Barolo is complex, harmonious and long. The silky texture is as important as all the other elements that make this wine so compelling. Excellent length on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Though it was a very dry year, this vintage still managed to keep its impressive elegance. The wine opens with enticing aromas of wild cherry, fresh and dried roses, incense, wild herbs and savory spice. The palate is an example of thoughtfulness and craft with a core of deep wild berries, black tea, and crushed stones that are all supported by supple tannins and lifted acidity." Wine Enthusiast

"Radiant, clear ruby red with delicately brightening rim. Slightly lactic nose at the beginning, then of rose petals, rose hips, blood oranges, also of dried tomatoes, sealing wax in the final. Very juicy on the palate entry, opens up with tight tannin, seems very balanced and coherent, keeps coming back, again very juicy on the final." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby. Great depth with hints of white pepper. Minerally notes and fine notes of oatmeal. Succulent sour cherry with super-fine, long tannins. Long and still youthful." Jancis Robinson
"Nice complexity to the nose, showing red cherry, walnut shell and pungent earth. Hints of pressed flowers, too. The palate is medium-bodied with lightly firm, velvety tannins and a very tightly wound core of fruit and tannin at the heart of the wine. The lighter structure is set, reflecting the vintage, but there’s enough going on for positive development with bottle age. Refined feel to this." James Suckling
"The Elvio Cogno 2018 Barolo Ravera is becoming one of the most important wines in Novello, and it performs very nicely in this more challenging vintage. In fact, 2018 helps to cement Ravera's steadfast reputation precisely because it performs so well despite spells of humidity and heat. The wine shows small-berry detailing with rust and crushed stone at the back. There is a point of bitterness that accompanies the tannins of this full-bodied wine." Wine Advocate
"This is alluring for the strawberry, cherry and currant flavors, with details of iron, tar and tobacco. Starts out silky in texture, then the structure sneaks up on you as this red builds to a long finish." Wine Spectator
"Mostly floral aromas of rose, violet and pot pourri, with strawberry and darker fruits allied to the vibrancy of a balsamic whiff, introduce a savoury blood orange flavour on the dense and weighted palate. It has ripe and dusty tannins with great extraction on the mid-palate, crisp acidity and the fruit concentration to achieve an amazing balance. It will gain further complexity with ageing." Decanter
"This beautiful, luminously hued Barolo opens with enticing scents of perfumed berry, dark spice, eucalyptus, violet and forest floor. The savory palate combines elegance and structure, delivering juicy red cherry, raspberry compote, star anise and wild mint framed in taut, refined tannins that give it a smooth but firm texture. Bright acidity keeps energized. What a stunner." Wine Enthusiast
"From the renowned cru of Novello, with southern exposure, an amazing Barolo from one of the historical wine-producer families of this typology. The nose has notes of yellow peach and persimmon, then laurel, closed by nuances of white pepper. Palate with sensations of red orange and pomegranate, very saline and clean, with a return of yellow fruit." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ravera “Bricco Pernice” DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC

"Very attractive, perfumed nose with cherries and raspberries, hints of spiced cedar, walnut and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied with grainy tannins and chalky texture. Fresh red fruits with racy, citrusy notes on the finish. Taste it from 2026." James Suckling
"This wine shows just how elegant Nebbiolo is with aromas of wild raspberries and cherry preserves giving way to wild herbs, rosebuds and earth. The palate is lifted and dances with vigor and energy showing its core of fruit but with all elements in harmony and balance." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with vines that are almost 50 years old. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening flavour. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures everything good that the vintage has to offer.

Barolo Ravera “Bricco Pernice” DOCG 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
Valter Fissore bottles less than 4,000 bottles of this incredibly classic Barolo every year.

Barolo Ravera “Vigna Elena” Riserva DOCG 2017 · 6 bottles in OWC

The very beautiful Azienda Agricola Elvio Cogno is situated in Novello, off the beaten track of the Langhe, on a hill above the magnificent Ravera vineyards. The village is one of the eleven municipalities where Barolo is produced. The fourth generation of the family, Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno, with a sure hand and a great deal of passion, are now producing elegant and balanced wines in the classic style in a former granary, using technology sparingly. In recent years, the wines of the winery founded by Nadia's father Elvio have found a strong identity.
The 18th century manor house stands for rigour and precision. Both characteristics are reflected in the production of ten wines. Finest Barolo site wines, followed by Barbera d'Alba, dominate. The plants of the wine farm are regularly given high ratings by relevant critics. Right from his first appearance, the best parcels of the Ravera vineyard were used for the "Barolo Bricco Pernice" from the wine guide Gambero Rossowith "Three glasses" excellent.
Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nascetta are the names of the autochthonous grape varieties consistently cultivated in the vineyards. A few years ago, the historical white Anas-cëtta variety, cultivated in the Novello area, was revived in the estate. It produces wines of brilliant straw-yellow colour with golden reflections. In the vineyards, the Cogno family works in an environmentally conscious manner without the use of pesticides. The dynamic couple deliberately keep the yield per hectare low and always strive to ensure the organic balance of the vines.
The visitor area is very characteristic for the winery. It is extremely inviting, lovingly designed down to the smallest detail and harmoniously blends into the breathtakingly beautiful landscape of the Langhe. SUPERIORE.DE
"The high quality profile of this company remains unbroken ... The entire bottle battery is reliable and convincingly expresses the potential of its terroir."Gambero Rosso
