Sangiovese Terra degli Osci IGT 2020
Excellent, single-varietal Sangiovese at a top price: ruby red, powerful, very typical bouquet of dark berries, tobacco and leather, well structured on the palate with cherry and plum notes, excellent length and elegant, fine-fruity finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dusty red flowers, dried strawberries and aromas of worn leather create an inviting bouquet as the 2020 Sangiovese opens in the glass. It is racy yet supple, with ripe cherry berries pouring over a mineral acid core. On the finish, the 2020 becomes crisp, leaving subtle tannins that frame the experience beautifully. It has so much purity and energy. This wine far exceeds its price." Vinous
"Aromas of black cherries, orange peel and some fresh herbs. Medium body, medium round tannins, and a soft and creamy finish. Light jammy character at the end." James Suckling

“Contado” Aglianico Riserva Molise DOC 2019
Concentrated ruby red with garnet-coloured reflections. The wood contributes very slight hints of roasted coffee to the predominantly black cherry and berry aroma. Full and very intense flavour of dark berries, very slight hints of violets and plums, the compact tannins are supported by balsamic notes, with fine liquorice tones in the finish. The harmony that this powerful and already delicious Aglianico hints at today will only fully come into its own after a few years of ageing in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"This has aromas of black currants, black cherries, dried herbs, tobacco and bitter chocolate. Firm and toasty on the palate, with a full body and chewy tannins. Ambitious but balanced." James Suckling

“Tintilia” Molise (Riserva) DOC 2020
Rich Riserva made from Tintilia grapes, an ancient vine from Molise. Full, soft and velvety, the perfect harmony of bouquet and flavour is impressive. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spicy and hot on the nose, with chili pepper and cherry tomato before bright sour cherry and candied red-apple aromas come out. More red apple and red pepper heat on the palate, with the sanguine flinty quality of dusty bricks and iron-rich soil emphasized by vibrant acid." Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas of eucalyptus, figs and wild cherries. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Interesting mineral character on the palate with walnut and blackberry coming through." James Suckling
"Autumnal spices, black licorice and sage form an inviting bouquet as the 2020 Tintilia blossoms in the glass. Silky and enveloping, this impresses further with cooling mineral tones and juicy acidity. Tart wild berry fruits slowly saturate the palate. A coating of fine tannins gradually fades as the 2020 finishes energetic, leaving the mouth watering for another sip." Vinous

“Don Luigi” Riserva Molise DOC 2017 (BIO)
Don Luigi Riserva, a solid, powerful red from Montepulciano and Aglianico has an intense, complex bouquet of sour cherries preserved in alcohol and a rich, delicately woody flavour with a long, warm finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Toasted hazelnuts, chocolate cherries, dark berries, bay leaves and walnuts on the nose. Full-bodied with a rich, ripe core of dark fruits framed by firm and muscular tannins. Salty undertones. Big and delicious." James Suckling
"The 2017 Don Luigi Riserva smolders up with a darkly alluring mix of musky black currants, sweet sage and crushed ashen stones. This is full-bodied and nearly creamy in feel. Depths of ripe dark fruits and exotic spices swirl throughout. There isn’t a hard edge in sight, while the 2017 blends brisk acidity with lingering notes of red plum and cedar. Just a touch of grippy tannin lurks beneath the surface. The balance here is stunning, yet some cellaring may be required to unlock further aromatic depth. That said, this is a beautiful rendition of Don Luigi Riserva." Vinous

“Sassius” Aglianico Riserva Molise DOC 2016 (BIO)
Dark, concentrated ruby red colour. Complex on the nose with an abundance of ripe red and black berry fruit aromas, including sour cherry, blackcurrant and elderberry, followed by notes of dried violets, sweet spices, liquorice, cocoa powder, mentholated tobacco and eucalyptus. Rich and multi-layered on the palate, powerful and soft with youthful but well-integrated tannins and excellent acidity. Only reveals its large reservoir of impressions after some aeration. Very long on the finish, great ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"The deeply umami nose features aromas of balsamic, pepper, soil and iron, with an undertone of sun-dried tomato providing some levity. On the palate, a wave of tart fruit crashes over more leathery, meaty flavors, before a hot finish that's underscored by tightly wound tannins and acid." Wine Enthusiast

The historic winery of the Di Majo family in Molise, in the north of the Gargano in the Ramitello region around Campomarino, slumbered for a long time until it acquired a very good reputation beyond the borders of Italy. Today, wines of the finest quality - concentrated, modern and fresh - come from there throughout. The young exceptional winemaker Alessio di Majo, supported by the renowned oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, has dedicated himself to the almost forgotten ancient grape varieties of the region and helped them to new prestige. In the Azienda Di Majo Norante, the emphasis is on a pleasantly fruity appearance and an ordered structure. This ranges from the drink-friendly white wines to the powerful red wines. The fact that the drops are also offered on the market at an extremely favourable price/quality ratio is not due to the level of the plants produced there.
Alessio di Majo, a winegrower who often swims against the current, produces wines that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. He has abandoned high yields in the vineyard and efforts to standardize taste in favour of the search for quality and typicity. The loose, partly sandy soils, together with the summer wind around Campomarino, offer particularly favourable conditions for vine cultivation. The plants thrive in wonderful locations covering 85 hectares of the ancient feudal property of Marchesi Norante di Santa Cristina. The vines are treated exclusively with organic fertilizers of organic and mineral origin.
The groundbreaking decision to select the most suitable clones of autochthonous vines by studying their adaptability to the Mediterranean soil is the starting point for all Di Majo Norante wines. In the beginning, the family had added the red varieties Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Aglianico as well as Falanghina and Greco to the classic varieties for white wine production. The traditional red variety Tintilia as well as the Moscato Reale for the production of a noble Passito wine later completed the portfolio.
The Di Majo Norante winery has been making wine from its own grapes for more than 200 years, as evidenced by the old cellars below the Piazza in Campomarino and in the old family palace there. The passion for viticulture, inherited first by Luigi and then by Alessio di Majo, is practised in combination with a great interest in research and innovation. As part of extensive modernisation measures, the preparation facilities were supplemented by a granary dating from the year 600, which now serves as a barrique cellar. SUPERIORE.DE
"Di Majo Norante in the region is to be equated with the word wine. This now legendary winery has profoundly influenced the innovation of viticulture within the region."Gambero Rosso
