Among wine experts, it is considered a jewel among the wineries of the Marche: the Garofoli winery, rich in tradition and splendidly renovated. After Antonio Garofoli had already produced and sold regional wines in 1871, his son continued his work, took over and expanded his father's activities and finally founded the wine house Gioacchino Garofoli in 1901 near Loreto, the second most important place of pilgrimage in Italy after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. After the Second World War, Gioacchino's sons Franco and Dante transformed the company into a company that developed considerably from the 1950s onwards. Today the winery is managed by the brothers Carlo and Gianfranco Garofoli. While one is responsible for production as an oenologist, the other takes care of economic matters. Gianfranco is also president of the Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini consortium. In some areas the leadership duo is supported by Beatrice, Gianluca and Caterina already in the fifth generation. For example, Gianluca now travels all over the world to introduce the noble drops to the family.
The Garofoli winery has become synonymous with top quality with reliable top products that are present in all important markets. The varied assortment of personality-strong and stylistically precise drops consists of sparkling and sweet wines, but above all also of wonderful Verdiccio variations. The Verdicchio grape has the majority of the wines offered at moderate prices. For years, the wines have been praised by the Critics' Guild and are sold in the winery in Serra de' Conti prepared. The Montepulciano grape variety is also very important. The grapes are grown on the calcareous soils of the Rosso Conero DOC and processed at the Castelfidardo estate, which is also the company's commercial and administrative centre. Sangiovese, Malvasia, Trebbiano and Bianchello are also part of the vine portfolio.
The grapes of the Garofoli joint-stock company, located within sight of the Adriatic Sea, are obtained from four of the company's own vineyards, but are also purchased by contract winegrowers who have been supplying raw materials for years. To preserve and develop the primary and secondary aromas, the white wines are stored in underground tanks or refrigerated stainless steel containers. The red wines are aged in 30 to 40 hectolitre barrels of Slavonian oak or 225 litre French oak barriques. For the production of sparkling wines according to the Charmat method and sparkling wines, stainless steel tanks with temperature control are used, which make a longer secondary fermentation and thus tingling drops of pronounced fineness possible. SUPERIORE.DE
"The strength of Carlo and Gianfranco Garofoli lies in a complete selection of top-quality wines that express the best regional characteristics with several labels. Together they have taken their winery to the highest level in its history."Gambero Rosso
