      “Ros’Aura” Rosato Campania IGT 2019

Scented of ripe wild strawberries and cherries. Open, fresh and wonderfully polished in taste with the characteristic aromas of wild berries and a wonderfully fruity finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Here I’m finding a beautifully perfumed display of Aglianico fruit, as the 2019 Feudi di San Gregorio Ros'Aura wafts up from the glass with a mix of dusty rose, ripe green melon, and sweet smoke. On the palate, it’s wonderfully soft, but also teeming with energetic acids and salty minerals, which add a savory umami touch, while its cooling ripe fruits lean toward the red spectrum and soothe the senses. The finish is medium in length and spicy, with hints of raspberry and tart cherries." Vinous

    • Sirica Campania Rosso IGT 2015

      Sirica Campania Rosso IGT 2015

Sirica, from the autochthonous Campanian grape variety of the same name, fills the nose with a bouquet of cranberries, cherries, plums, a light herbal spice and violets. Full on the palate, yet velvety with beautiful fruit and spice. In the final it is elegant and at the same time complex. SUPERIORE.DE

"Made from the native Sirica grape, this young red opens with wild berry and black pepper aromas. The smooth, vibrant palate offers a great combination of fruit and spice, doling out juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry and clove flavors, bolstered by polished tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"Aromas of black licorice, tar and blueberry. Full body, soft and silky tannins. Very polished and fine. Drink now." James Suckling

"Sirica is the name of a grape discovered by Feudi di San Gregorio and registered by them as its own variety. It is genetically linked to Syrah, Teroldego and/or Refosco. The 2015 Sirica reveals dark ruby color saturation with garnet and purple highlights at the rim. The nose is warm and broad with dark fruit, spice, crushed black pepper and savory leather. The wine offers soft tannins and loads of generous richness. Just like Syrah, Sirica seems to love the warm vintages, like 2015. This is a full and complete red wine that I recommend with great pleasure." Robert Parker

      Taurasi DOCG 2015

Pure variety Aglianico, whose grapes come from Pietradefusi and S. Angelo all'Esca Brilliant ruby red with garnet reflections, an enveloping bouquet of morello cherries and marasca cherries in harmony with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, vanilla and aniseed. The full, balanced taste with sweet, silky tannins ends in an aromatic, persistent final. SUPERIORE.DE

"Aromas evoking black-skinned berry, new leather, blue flower, Asian spice and dried botanical herb waft out of the glass. On the taut, linear palate, youthfully austere, fine-grained tannins envelope cranberry, pomegranate, star anise and a hint of ground clove while surprisingly fresh acidity for the hot vintage keeps it balanced. It's still young and needs a few more years to unwind." Wine Enthusiast

"A meaty, enticing Taurasi that shows dried cloves, black pepper, berries, tobacco and spices. The full-bodied palate portrays a fascinating juxtaposition between driven, steely acidity and ripe dark fruit, with tea-bag character in the mix, too. Drink from 2021." James Suckling

"The 2015 Taurasi exudes a baroque opulence, with generous layers of tobacco, black cherry and chocolate. The acidity and minerality help to streamline the mouthfeel just a bit, but this remains a large-scale, full-bodied red nevertheless. This wine will be released at the end of this year. I could see a pairing with agnolotti stuffed with roasted meat. The warm and sunny 2015 vintage was especially kind to the Aglianico grape." Robert Parker

About the winemakersFeudi di San GregorioCampania
    Feudi di San Gregorio

Who has enjoyed a good regional wine in Naples or on one of the offshore islands Ischia or Capri in the vacation, has certainly already come across this big name: Feudi di San Gregorio. The winery, which is located in Sorbo Serpico in the Irpinia region and has grown from small beginnings to its present size in less than ten years, is known for its strong personality and its terroir wines. By the way, Pope Gregory the Great was already cultivating wine in the region in the sixth century. Today Feudi di San Gregorio is a symbol of the oenological renaissance of southern Italy. The authentic wines produced there from ancient vines are therefore repeatedly rewarded with high scores by wine critics. An example is the deep dark Aglianico, which has been elaborated to one of the highest rated wines of Italy. Feudi di San Gregorio was awarded the title of best Italian winery in 2013. "Oscar del Vino" excellent.

At an altitude of 350 to 700 metres, the vineyards of Tufo, Taurasi and Santa Paolina are home to Aglianico and other popular grape varieties such as Fiano, Greco and Falanghina. The grapes benefit from a special microclimate that is different from the rest of Campania. The vegetation is very dense and varied. Endless seeming mountain and hill ranges alternate with rivers and lakes. This creates special wind conditions that guarantee a good supply of rainwater.

Feudi di San Gregorio has shaped the image of the Campania wine landscape more than any other wine house for several decades. Far-reaching strategic changes made by a new management team have ushered in a new era that is having a positive effect on the range of modern wines. The urge to discover of the early years with a stronger connection to the native soil revives. This is mainly due to the energetic President Antonio Capaldo, who previously worked for the investment bank Lazard and the management and strategy consultancy McKinsey. But the change of direction is also attributable to Pierpaolo Sirch, who - supported by Marco Simonit - has given all the white wines aged in steel in the high-tech cellar a new style. The Technical Director, who has a dual role as manager and production manager, has ensured that the wines' loyalty to the terroir and personality are combined with a harmony and freshness that are even more pronounced than in previous years. According to wine connoisseurs, the reds have also clearly benefited from Sirch's handwriting. SUPERIORE.DE

"The new start is based on the exceptional vineyard and the recovery of a stylistic identity that has never before been so close to the terroir."Gambero Rosso
