    Taurasi DOCG 2016

Already for the 2012 vintage, the tasters of the British magazine Decanter thought it was probably the best red wine in southern Italy. With the excellent year 2016, the Taurasi will certainly be back at the top of the Aglianicos, which are not called "Barolo of the South" for nothing. Beautiful, bright red with red chili reflexes, in the bouquet a cornucopia of black currant, black cherry and light stone, all flanked by a touch of fine oak wood spice. In the drink full-bodied and highly polished with a very good structure. In the pretty finish then a lot of power, opulence and a freshness that leads from striking tannin to the slightly peppery and lactic finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The nose in the 2016 Taurasi shows masses of ripe blue and black fruits, as rich, exotic spices give way to hints of orange citrus and violet-tinged florals. On the palate, velvety textures coast across the senses, delivering cool-toned black fruits and minerals, with refreshing acidity adding lift. The finish is medium in length and buzzing with energy, resonating on tart blackberry and cherry with a saline-mineral twang. I craved more depth here and a bit less oak, yet the purity is admirable, making the 2016 Donnachiara Taurasi very easy to like right out of the gate." Vinous

"Fabulous aromas of crushed berries, wet earth, spice and dried meat. Some black pepper as well. It’s full-bodied and layered with plenty of fruit and a juicy finish. A gorgeous young Taurasi. One for the cellar, but delicious already." James Suckling
