Lezér means "light" and so it is - in the most delicate sense. Light ruby red in colour, red berries and an interesting hint of violets on the nose. Smoke, freshly cut wood and a fine creaminess on the palate. A thoroughly fresh red wine right through to the finish, which goes well with warm weather and uncomplicated Mediterranean cuisine, especially when slightly chilled. The ageing in different containers such as amphora, cement tank and wooden barrel gives it an additional appeal and an unmistakable profile. SUPERIORE.DE

"Wild strawberries, black cherries, lavender and sage create an inviting bouquet as the 2022 Lezèr opens in the glass. While classified as a Rosso, its color is a translucent red verging on pink. "Burdigai" is Ligurian dialect and means shrubs of the Mediterranean maquis. From a small and isolated terrace facing west, surrounded by Mediterranean shrubs, comes this truly original Rosato, which should not actually exist. Because the grape variety is unknown, it is alternatively called "Franseise" because it apparently comes from the south of France and not even the owners know the exact origin and age, nor do they know who planted the vines there in the first place. Nevertheless, the vines have been cultivated and cared for over decades and at some point the family council decided to press an independent rosé from them.

Intense coral pink, fine and original bouquet of pink grapefruit, raspberry and strawberry with subtle mineral notes. Very dry in the mouth, floral, with lively acidity and pronounced spiciness. Characteristic is the mineral-chalky impression at the back of the palate, which prolongs the wine's originality and tension. The lasting impression left by this exciting and full-bodied and pleasantly purist Rosato is a blend of elegance, finesse and uncompromisingness that is second to none. SUPERIORE.DE

The new single varietal Colorino Per Caterina opens with a slightly darker colour and more garnet concentration than the Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese produced at Piancornello. This autochthonous grape variety usually adds colour to traditional red wine blends and on its own the grape offers a nice fibre and density, flanked by powerful primary aromas and some black pepper. A pure and rather purist wine with a fresh, bright acidity - for us an ideal companion to grilled meat. SUPERIORE.DE

The Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca grapes for this exceptional white wine come from the Casanova dell'Aia estate in Radda in Chianti, the first 0.2 ha of limestone and clay parcel that the family bought and planted in the 1980s and then renewed in 2014. It matures on fine lees mostly in terracotta amphorae and only a small part remains in stainless steel tanks. Total production per vintage: 2,500 bottles.

Brilliant, sparkling golden yellow. Intense and attractive on the nose with fresh notes of yellow-fleshed fruits and an elegant, delicate aftertaste including a delicately reductive note. Here comes Surmont, the successor to Rain Riesling. As in the past, part of the grapes come from the South Tyrolean lowlands, while the other part now comes from the Valle Isarco from high and cool sites on soils of volcanic origin, which give the wine a fresher, almost alpine style.

Bright, straw-yellow colour with a slight greenish tinge. Clean, distinct, fragrant varietal aroma with fine fruity notes (peach, pear). Balanced, medium-bodied. Fresh, juicy finish. Forget everything you think you know about rosé. The grapes for this masterpiece come from four different vineyards, one of which, Madonna degli Angeli, is home to vines 45-90 years old. Rosa del Rosa is archetypal for complexity and aromatic density with simultaneous suppleness and elegance. On the palate with maximum harmony and complexity; fine red berries and orange fruitiness paired with a certain spiciness lead up to a polished and never-ending finish. Carte Noire is a highly limited Ligurian drip oil, which is obtained using a special process. Only completely intact olives are used for this. After grinding them between granite stones, the paste is spread on mats. These are placed on top of each other, then the olive oil obtained in this way runs downwards without pressure and is collected there.

The result is a mild oil not without certain rustic notes, with a slight sweetness and hints of spices, almonds, pine nuts, apple and vanilla. Excellent for salads, for flavouring fresh cheeses, but also with white meat. SUPERIORE.DE

At Podere le Ripi, the grapes for Rosso di Montalcino are given more time in the cellar than elsewhere, giving the wine more similarities to a Brunello than a Rosso. Deep ruby red with orange reflections. On the nose, a rousing symphony of aromas, spanning the olfactory arc from cherry, strawberry and violet to fresh balsamic herbs. On the palate, an impressive, broad structure, beautifully interwoven primary and secondary notes, plus a fine minerality and a remarkably long finish. The longer ageing time really pays off!
