“Rarum Cor Römigberg” Cabernet Sauvignon | Edition 2020 · 6 Bottles in OWC

"Matured wines can be compared to a person who impresses not by strength but by the wisdom of age. These wines have a tremendous personality, a very special aura." Alois Lageder

Every year since the 1995 vintage, the Lageder family has set aside a small number of their masterpieces to demonstrate the impressive development and great potential of their wines. The choice of the 2020 Rarum Edition was made for six special vintages of the top COR Römigberg cabernet, which we are now able to present to you in a high-quality wooden box with the vintages 1996, 1998, 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2010.

(2006) "Sparkling, dense ruby. Inviting, multi-layered nose, reveals notes of tobacco, spicy herbs and much darker berry fruit. On the palate, firm and substantial in its approach and development, builds up richly, opens up with dense, fine-meshed tannin, increases steadily in the rear, clear fruit, very rich pressure in the final ". Falstaff

(2006) "The 2006 Cor Romigberg is impressive on this vintage. Dark red berries, plums, grilled herbs, licorice and cedar are some of the many notes that flow from this deeply expressive, totally convincing wine. The 2006 boasts gorgeous depth, power and finesse. Mocha, new leather and tar are some of the notes that flesh out on the finish, adding further layers of complexity. Cor Romigberg is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a dollop of Petit Verdot from a vineyard in Caldaro, on the southern side of Alto Adige." Robert Parker

(2010) Cherry red Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Petit Verdot, the complex bouquet is reminiscent of blackcurrants; in addition, mint aromas and floral notes are interwoven with the pleasantly balanced wood note. Powerful and dense on the palate; the fine tannins are harmoniously integrated. SUPERIORE.DE

Maturation: maceration for about 17 days in stainless steel tanks. After biological acid reduction, the young wine was filled into barriques (Alliers and Nevers, 2/3 new) and matured in them for between 17 and 20 months, depending on the vintage.

“Cassetta Storico Monte Lodoletta” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2008 | 2009 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Under the name "Cassetta Storico Monte Lodoletta", Romano dal Forno brings to market at irregular intervals a selection of choice top vintages that have been held back for many years and have been able to continue maturing carefully in the bottle in their own cellars. SUPERIORE.DE

      2 bottles à 0,75l | "Monte Lodoletta" Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2008

Sparkling, rich ruby with a light garnet edge. Intense bouquet of dark berries, plums, slightly raisiny, very balanced. On the palate almost explosive and multi-layered, with a wonderfully smooth texture like velvet and silk, then soft, sweetish and dense tannin, builds up endlessly. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella is compelling. With a little air, the tannins begin to soften, releasing a myriad of intense dark aromas and flavors. Bittersweet chocolate, cloves, violets, plums and blackberry jam cover every inch of the palate in a stunning, headspinning Amarone that captures all of the best qualities of the year. When Romano Dal Forno's wines are on, there is nothing quite like them, and that is certainly the case here. If opened young, the 2008 needs a little air. Actually, a lot of air." Vinous

      1 bottle à 0,75l | "Monte Lodoletta" Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2009

Monte Lodoletta 2009 exudes remarkable warmth and ripeness, with deep layers of Venezuelan dark chocolate, herbs, liquorice, smoke, dark fruit and toasted oak. For such a big wine, this Amarone has remarkable detail and nuance, and in an explosive style. On the palate, flavours of black plum, coffee liqueur, spice, tobacco, vanilla and herbs abound. A high alcohol, heady wine that is not for those who believe that less can be more. Everything is here in exuberant volume and it takes hours to get through this wine. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta is a full and generous expression that delivers thick lines and robust flavors of dried blackberry, camphor ash, exotic cedar wood, licorice and tarry road pavement. This vintage saw average temperatures throughout the growing season with a few hailstorms along the way. Very dry weather led to some mild drought in July and August, with ensuing ripening and concentration of the clusters. I found this monumental wine to be irresistible when I first tasted it five years ago, and I consider it to have improved since then. This is one of the most complete and comprehensive vintages produced at Dal Forno, and it gives us an ample 360-degree view onto the might, brawn and potential of this icon wine from the Veneto. Its evolutionary track shows no sign of slowing down." Robert Parker
