“Vigna Monte Ceriani” Soave DOC 2020
Pale yellow, crystalline colour. Harmonious aroma of citrus fruits, especially grapefruit. Powerful on the palate, fresh, long lasting and mineral reverberation accompanied by a wonderful almond/pepper note. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. Very floral nose, pink grapefruit, elderflower and other herbaceous notes. Mouth-filling, balanced, complex, intense and very dense. Long finish highlighting the contrast between fruity and juicy." Falstaff
"Sweet nuts and lime blossom fill the glass with heady soft clouds of aroma, but the palate has a textural certainty that is anything but soft. The volcanic soils have given the wine a mineral framework, a symmetrical matrix of flint and phenol in which the flesh is deeply embedded. White pears, almond cream, white peach and lime. A hint of finely ground pepper. Fine silvery strands of acidity that thread the whole into a glittering carpet of light. "Sotto voce" splendour now, it will only get more complex, honeyed and exciting in the years to come." Jancis Robinson
"Sun-dried lemon, spiced mandarin and ripe melon on the nose, followed by a generous and intense palate with medium to full body. Almost some hay and candied fruit on the finish, but not in an old-fashioned way. Fresh and bright." James Suckling
"From Ceriani di Colognola ai Colli, historic family estate, 50-year-old vines, from pure Garganega refined in steel only, notes of clementine zest, touches of yellow grapefruit, citrus thyme and hawthorn. Savoury on the palate, citrusy return." Luca Gardini

“Case Vecie” Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2021
Valpolicella Superiore Case Vecie is made mainly from Corvina and Corvinone grapes. It takes its name from the vineyard of the same name in Grezzana, where the ripening of the grapes is subject to strong temperature fluctuations between day and night: a climatic peculiarity that gives the wine a special spiciness on the nose and a completely unique polyphenol profile. Bright ruby red in colour with notes of cherries, vanilla and spices. Beautiful fruit and acidity on the palate, wonderfully balanced body. Juicy and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium carmine red colour. A little Amarone-like with dried dark cherries, as if it had walked over the skins of Amarone. A hint of dried fruit. Peppery and with a hint of oak. No doubt, we are in Valpolicella. Smooth and generous without being heavy. Such a pleasant wine." Jancis Robinson
"The Valpolicella Superiore Case Vecie 2021 is particularly floral and airy, with a lively bouquet of dusty roses, dried strawberries and a hint of sour orange. It is a paragon of purity, with crisp red berry fruit and tactile mineral notes accompanied by juicy acidity. The 2021 finishes incredibly fresh, revealing a pleasant, crisp tannin as the tart cherry notes slowly fade away. The Valpolicella Superiore Case Vecie from a single vineyard is simply stunning and is produced without the appassimento process." Vinous
"This Valpolicella rises from the glass with fresh aromas of wild cherries and red plums that give way to violets, rosemary and fresh earth. The palate is bright with ripe red berries, allspice, vanilla, black tea and sweet and savoury spices, finishing with an electric acidity that refreshes the palate after every sip." Wine Enthusiast

“414” Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Maurizio Castelli does not like fancy names. That's why he took a simple but original approach when naming the estate and his top wine: 414, which is the number of the vineyard in the region's land register. And the Morellino 414 more than lives up to this clear line and proves its stature: smoky notes in the lively fruit bouquet, the contrasting, drinkable flavour convinces with aromatic power and structure. One of the best Morellino in the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright crimson. Pale rim. Lots of sweetness and real authenticity in this wine. Pure pleasure! Great balance between ripe fruit and that Sangiovese tang." Jancis Robinson

“Rubiolo 30 anni” Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Chianti Classico Rubiolo shows its delicately spicy side on the nose with cloves, cinnamon, lavender, wild dark cherries and blackberries that are beautifully ripe but not overripe. There are also floral hints. The fruit for this extremely good value wine comes from Castellina and Panzano, whereby the fullness and richness of the Panzano region are clearly noticeable. The finish is soft and velvety. It is the exceptional balance of the wine that really sets it apart. SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid-to-deep crimson. Concentrated, full yet cool nose of cherry fruit. Tangy cherry fruit with a layer of grainy tannins. Great balance and length." Jancis Robinson
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years while the flavors remain vibrant. Succulent red cherry fruit, orange peel, mint and white flowers all race out of the glass. This exuberant, juicy Chianti Classico is a delight." Vinous
"Aromas of ripe red fruit, licorice, spices and pink peppercorns. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and tense with vivid acidity and polished tannins. Hints of walnuts and savory herbs at the end." James Suckling
"The organic 2021 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is an excellent value wine. The wine is all Sangiovese sourced from three sites in Castellina, Panzano and Badia a Passignano. The wine delivers a dark ruby color, and although the aromatic intensity is measured, there are delicately perfumed tones of cherry, raspberry and blood orange that feel punchy and bright. You also get pretty floral tones." Wine Advocate

“La Bandina” Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2019
Dark ruby red. La Bandina is a parade Valpolicella with a very complex, nuanced bouquet of small wild berries, cherries, liquorice and tobacco. Fresh, balsamic and warm on the palate with a dark bouquet of wild berries, chocolate, coffee and plum. A long finish with a very balanced acidity-tannin structure and impressive depth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium ruby red with garnet reflections. In the nose of lush raspberry and ripe forest berries, some spice and leather in the aftertaste. On the palate fruity-sweet and with light spice, with well-integrated tannin, persistent final." Falstaff
"The freshest vintage of this wine I have ever tasted. Wonderful acidity. Plum skins and scent of bruised rose petals. Deep thyme-scented cherry fruit; tannins that feel as fine but also as firm as slightly unripe cherry fruit; the scent of rose petal tea, of rooibos; the pungency of blood orange. Lovely depth on the finish with the fragrant zest and freshness of lavender." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh nose of plum fruit, along with pressed flowers, clean minerals and a hint of citrus. Opens on the palate, adding a mushroomy note to the profile that carries through to the finish. Medium-bodied with fine, unobtrusive tannins." James Suckling
"The 2019 Valpolicella Superiore La Bandina opens with a dusting of exotic spice, giving way to grilled sage and black cherries. This is remarkably pure and elegant in style, with silky textures ushering in rose-tinged red fruits as a black pepper hint emerges toward the close. Framing tannins punctuate the red beautifully as the single-vineyard La Bandina finishes spicy with an air of lavender that lingers." Vinous

Chianti Classico DOCG 2021
Open-hearted, very appealing bouquet of tart berry fruit, forest floor, bitter almond, blue flowers and grilled herbs. The palate has the typical Sangiovese profile of bright red berries, with wonderfully integrated acidity and freshness. A classic from Castellina in Chianti, rich in finesse every year and unbeatable with white meat dishes and sugos. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour. Clear and expressive on the nose, blackberry and redcurrant, followed by some thyme and cloves as well as white pepper and marzipan. Refreshing and lively on the palate, pleasantly savoury, ripe, well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, juicy and animating through to the final." Falstaff
"Transparent ruby red colour. Fully ripe fruit with an intense, characteristic, rustic and spicy aroma. Lots of acidity and light tannin after very pure, tangy fruit on the palate. Extremely fresh and quite persistent with a certain fruit fullness. Really very refined and ethereal." Jancis Robinson
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Fonterutoli smells of dark cherry, plum, leather, liquorice, menthol, dried herbs, incense and sage. Supple and expressive, with marvellous depth, the 2021 is a fine edition of pure Chianti Classico." Vinous
"The Chianti Classico Fonterutoli 2021 comes from a vintage that delivered great results throughout the region. It is somewhat darker, stronger and more concentrated than the normal entry-level Chianti Classico. Cherry and dark plum give way to beautiful mineral tones. This added intensity is part of the house style and a little gift for those who appreciate more meat on the Sangiovese bones." Wine Advocate
"Notes of raspberries and cherries with red liquorice, dried orange peel and spices. Medium to full-bodied with a fleshy structure. The tannins are broad and velvety with a juicy, red-fruity mid-palate. Fresh and crisp on the finish." James Suckling

Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Vibrant ruby colour with light violet reflections, rich fruity aromas on the nose, typically of wild berries and sour cherries. Fresh, balanced and well-structured on the palate, with silky tannins and spicy accents. An energetic classic of the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"A classic and as if from a single mould; cherries, blackberries, the juicy vein and the charm are pleasing, the fine tannin and acid bite invigorate." Weinwisser
"Almost medium ruby red colour. Dense and rather closed on the nose and a little reductive. Great intensity and purity of fruit, with plenty of tangy acidity and fine tannins. Impressive." Jancis Robinson
"Boasting black cherry, blackberry, violet and earth flavors, this rich, dark red shows fine balance, with a light grip of tannins on the finish. This is more about the fruit, so very drinkable now." Wine Spectator
"A powerful and flavoursome Chianti Classico with aromas of red plums, herbs, mushrooms and some citrus peel. Medium-bodied with plenty of bite thanks to the chewy tannins. Made from organically grown grapes." James Suckling
"The Chianti Classico 2021 is a prime example of excellence. Pure, bright and wonderfully lively, the 2021 possesses outstanding energy and exceptional balance. Crushed red/purple-coloured fruit, rose petals, sweet spices and orange peel burst with excitement. This is a rare Chianti Classico that I would cellar for a year or two. Outstanding." Vinous
"As the high temperatures in mid-August stopped the Sangiovese from ripening, he harvested about a week later than usual, reports Marco Ricasoli. He also introduced a sorting table to remove dried or green berries and pieces of stem. The result is a flawless and refined Annata. It has a deep purple colour and an equally youthful bouquet with aromas of wild berries, black plums and a hint of wood spices. In the mouth, it is full of spicy dark red cherries, carried by a lively acidity and framed by tannins with a suede structure. Winter mint and liquorice root linger on the finish. With its admirable complexity, it surpasses its category." Decanter

"Deep crimson. Brooding and subdued fruit with a hint of leather. Fluid, elegant and juicy. Long and suave, with finely ground tannins. A truly elegant new-school Nero d’Avola." Jancis Robinson
"The Saia 2020 is seductively dark and opens with a blend of red plums, sage, smoke and tangerine peel. It is soft and round and shows ripe red and blue fruits, sweet herbs and dark chocolate. The juicy acidity ensures that the 2020 finishes long and pleasantly acidic. Traces of sour citrus fruits slowly fade away. This incredibly beautiful Nero d'Avola wants to please." Vinous
"This medium to full-bodied red wine is well-structured and balanced, with a slight hint of balsamico acidity that enlivens concentrated flavours of blackberry, roasted plum, violet, espresso and smoke. The fine tannins provide fine definition and firm up the slightly chalky finish." Wine Spectator
"The organically certified 2020 Sicilia Saia is a pure Nero d'Avola from one of the most beautiful areas of rural Sicily in Noto. This red wine shows medium concentration with dark fruits, ripe cherries, black olives and sweet earthy tones. It is richly structured and finishes with soft, sweet tannins. This is a great wine for the kitchen." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of black liquorice, crushed plums and ground spices. Medium to full body with powdery but firm tannins. Fresher and crisper than previous vintages. The red and black fruits on the palate are nicely articulated by a steady acidity and some mineral notes." James Suckling

"Animating cherry, cassis and herbs, shows its pithy side with a bite, salty vein and tart charm, is robust and lingers for a long time. The classic from the south of the growing region." Weinwisser
"The Fèlsina 2021 Chianti Classico Berardenga has a savoury or crisp side that I often find in Sangiovese. There's a lot of fruit brightness here with cassis, red cherries, minerals, dried tobacco and grilled rosemary. This is an easy-drinking Tuscan red wine with a natural acidity and brightness that goes well with a classic lasagne or aubergine parmigiana." Wine Advocate
"The 2021 begins with smoky nuances, earth and subtle oak, before moving into fragrant mint and thyme. It is concentrated and ripe, but balanced by freshness and vibrancy. The underlying firmness gradually dissipates to reveal a spicy finish of dried tomatoes." Decanter
"The Chianti Classico Berardenga 2021 is impetuous and expressive right from the glass. Dark fruits, earthy notes, leather, spices and tobacco convey the character of Castelnuovo Berardenga in tonnes. The wine gets better and better in the glass. It's a super-classic example of the house style and a wine to buy by the case. The Berardenga bottling can be a little wild, but in 2021 it has an added touch of sophistication that is undeniable." Vinous
"Sparkling ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Fresh raspberries and strawberries on the nose, then a touch of forest floor and sour cherry. Fresh and juicy on the palate, with well-integrated tannins, long and fruity final." Falstaff
"A firm and silky red wine with aromas and flavours of cherries, dried flowers and orange peel. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and concentrated finish. It still needs some time to mellow, but I'm already enjoying its energy." James Suckling
"Nose of red raspberry, touches of wild sage and floreal finish, with nuances of lavender. The drinkability is crunchy-sapid, good persistence with a return of Taggiasca olive." Luca Gardini

“Coste & Fossati” Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2022 (BIO)
Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati is one of the most sought-after wines in the appellation every year. A very dark purple-coloured wine with a bouquet of roasted almonds, cherries, tar and chocolate. Voluminous, long and rich on the palate, velvety and juicy with a subtle sweetness and an impressive, gripping texture. Already a pleasure today and undoubtedly a great experience in a few years' time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lively fruit, enveloped by firm, muscular, sandy tannins. Dust and rose hips. Sour cherry. Vibrant fruit with a delicate, spicy note of forest floor and a hint of floral patterns. The finish contracts and then returns to the brightness of the fruit. Great juiciness!" Jancis Robinson
"The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati is a powerful, deep wine. Black cherry, plum, leather, grilled herbs, gravel, lavender and spices give it remarkable complexity. The imposing tannins and rich fruit give this wine a very serious flavour. The 2022 is a wine for the dinner table." Vinous
"Grown within two Barolo MGAs, the grapes for this wine are only picked when the leaves and stems have turned red, which represents phenolic maturity, ensuring good structure and good fruit concentration. Full of tangy red and black cherry aromas and flavours with a touch of creaminess, this is bright and fresh. Vibrant and vertical, with a long, saline finish, its juicy fruit is underlined by subtle fine tannins and mouthwatering acidity." Decanter
"The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati from organic farming shows a rich, dark fruit with a pronounced sweet side. There is soft cherry, blackberry and crème de cassis. The wine is quite full-bodied and juicy and is an excellent accompaniment to wood-fired pizza." Wine Advocate

“Belguardo V” Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC 2021
This Vermentino cru is the result of a study project in the vineyard and in the winery and comes from two clones each from Corsica and Sardinia. "Belguardo V" (formerly "Codice V") displays the most distinctive characteristics of Tyrrhenian Vermentino and thus epitomises the typical Vermentino as the Mazzei family understands it.
Fresh and bright citrus flavours with white flowers, honeysuckle and cut grass. Sunny, savoury and very mineral on the palate with the typical Vermentino structure. Taut on the final and with promising ageing potential. 30% of the wine is matured on the fine lees in amphorae. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, sparkling straw yellow colour. On the nose, initially fresh asparagus, then citrus fruit, elderflower, medium-bodied. Fresh on the palate, on stone fruit, salty and racy, slightly phenolic on the final." Falstaff
"Intense straw yellow colour. Restrained but concentrated on the nose, with hints of cedar, salty minerals and a hint of bread crust. Still somewhat restrained on the palate, with notes of lemon, rhubarb and peach and a fine citric nerve running through the fruit." Jancis Robinson
"Notes of peach stones, sliced apples, crushed almonds and acacia blossom. Medium-bodied, somewhat waxy and phenolic, with taut acidity and a long, somewhat tight finish. With a mineral backbone." James Suckling
"The Belguardo V is a white wine that is exemplary for the Maremma. The aromas of lemon, lime and apple mingle with floral and almond nuances, while the powerful, creamy, slightly honeyed palate combines juiciness with a savoury line that runs through the core of juicy green and yellow fruit. Soft and soothing, airy and fresh, this is a fantastic wine for the table that will also cellar well." Decanter
"The Belguardo Mazzei 2021 Maremma Toscana Vermentino Superiore Belguardo V is a bit closed on first nose, but it slowly reveals orchard fruit, preserved lemon, quince and soft honey that runs strong throughout. It does open to fully express itself and is actually very generous to all the senses after a minute or two in the glass. The wine sees extended skin maceration and ages in a combination of amphorae and stainless steel on the fine lees." Wine Advocate

“Petrignano” Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Dievoles Chianti Classico Petrignano is the result of the effort to highlight the identity characteristics of particularly suitable vineyards, leading to ever more precise expressions of Sangiovese. Petrignano is the name of a characteristic area with a soil rich in minerals and stones. At an altitude of about 330 metres, rocks protrude from the ground, typical of the geological formation of Monte Morello. The abundance of stones, the depth of the roots and the low growth of the vines result in an expressive and lush wine from this characteristic and authentic cru site.
Intense ruby red. Very appealing bouquet dominated by ripe fruit, cherry and blackberry aromas. Juicy, full and rich on the palate, with blackberry and ripe fruit flavours. Warm and velvety finish with fine and soft tannins that are very accentuated interwoven with the fine acid structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red with orange reflections. Lively cherry nose with some signs of development and hints of tobacco leaf and sweet spice. Spicy, juicy cherry fruit and crisp tannins. More energetic on the palate than on the nose, and that's where it hits the spot." Jancis Robinson
"Dark forest fruit with an earthy character offers plenty of appeal. High acidity and tannins with very good length." Decanter
"This is a new addition to the Dievole portfolio with a cool, retro-styled label. The organic 2020 Chianti Classico Petrignano is 100% Sangiovese fermented in cement tulips and aged in large oak casks over 12 months. Winemaking is simple and to the point. These results show vibrant freshness and pretty fruit purity with a focused delivery." Wine Advocate
"A supple red, infused with a beam of cherry and strawberry fruit, with a texture that is silky at first, then overtaken by firm, dusty tannins. The finish reveals almond, earth and herbal notes that linger long. Give it time for the two halves to meld together." Wine Spectator
"A delicious, crisp red with very fine tannins and a pretty and delicate finish. Very tasty and with a creamy texture. Fresh finish." James Suckling

Multi-layered aroma, lots of dark cherry fruit, delicate herbal spice and cedar aromas. Also on the palate juicy dark wild cherries, ripe, perfectly integrated tannin, elegant and delicate, fine mineral spiciness, yet amazingly full-bodied and animating. A representative of the appellation that hits the right notes, as if from a picture book! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant crimson. Sublime, perfumed nose of raspberry, cherry and cranberry. Juicy and almost a little racy on the attack, then concentrated and long with a firm tannic frame. Beautiful." Jancis Robinson
"Spicy, powerful, rich and fleshy, besides the fruit also delicately smoky, earthy and with sturdy tannin. A classic." Weinwisser
"The 2021 Chianti Classico is magnificent. Bright and explosive, the 2021 has remarkable energy and tension to play up its natural richness. In most vintages, the San Giusto Chianti Classico is quite open. This is not the case at all with the 2021, where lively acids and tannins dominate. harvestshould plan to drink the 2021 for a few years. Sweet exotic floral notes lift the finish." Vinous
"Dark cherry, raspberry, violet and mineral aromas and flavors permeate this supple red, which is fresh, delineated and intense, with fine harmony and a lingering aftertaste emphasizing the fruit." Wine Spectator
"The organic Chianti Classico 2021, from a balanced vintage that delivers acidity and structure, displays a brilliant dark garnet colour and a clean, medium-bodied appearance. The bouquet is full of energy and liveliness, a quality that Sangiovese achieves under ideal growing conditions. Spicy cherry, cassis, blue flowers, violets and soft earth give this wine an authentic sense of place. The same goes for the elegant mineral notes. This is a special wine." Wine Advocate

“Mimmo” Rosso 2019
Mimmo is a triumvirate of the wonderful autochthonous grape varieties Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina from 100-year-old vineyards on Montalbano and Santuario porphyry soils at an altitude of 500 metres. The Nebbiolo parcels come from the same vineyards as the cult wine Boca and are harvested and processed according to the same quality principles. The division between Boca and Mimmo is made by tasting the lots after two years of ageing in large wooden barrels.
Some lots from the estate's own vineyards in the Boca DOC ripen a little earlier than others, without losing their original character. Together with 30% Croatina, the final result is Mimmo, named after an unforgettable person who has helped to raise the quality level of the Le Piane winery to what it is today. With his approachable manner, he opens the door to the more complex Boca at a more affordable price.
Fine, floral bouquet. Great and precise fruit on the palate. Powerful tannins envelop a core of bright red fruits, tobacco, crushed flowers and liquorice. The flavours and supple texture round off beautifully on the deep finish with well-dosed pressure. It is rightly described as the younger brother of the Boca and is a great choice for drinking over the next five years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light garnet red colour with a brick edge. Peppery, ageing red fruits, with an impression of crushed stones, fragrant but not floral. On the palate, chalky-dry tannins, refined and sinewy at the same time. The tannins still need time, even if they are finely integrated." Jancis Robinson
"The Mimmo 2019 is a deep, powerful wine, despite its medium-weight structure. Crushed rose petals, sage, mint, tobacco and cedar give it a remarkable brightness. Lively acidity and spicy accents round off the whole." Vinous
"Here is a great example of the Le Piane style in terms of complexity via blending, along with notable finesse and immediate drinkability. Aromas of wild strawberry, redcurrant, blood orange and red poppy. Very good acidity and impressive persistence. The finish is fruit-driven with excellent freshness and good persistence. A delight!" "Intense straw with a green tinge. Firm, petrolly nose with apple and green peach. Full-bodied palate that comes with plenty of acidity, which gives it an edge. Apple and peach fruit on a long finish." Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Riesling Afix emerges from the glass with an exotic blend of tropical flowers, dried citrus peel and sweet spice. On the palate, it displays a pleasant inner sweetness that combines lemon and lime with a stimulating core of salty minerality. The 2020 finishes with excellent length and tension, while the residual acids provide a fresh impression. It is very beautiful." Vinous

“Selezione Antonio Castagnedi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2018
Amarone Selezione Antonio Castagnedi delivers high quality for its price every year: Bright ruby red with sparkling reflections. Diverse aromas of violets, graphite, black cherries and minerals and a lively, structured, down-to-earth, very present style. Its richness and depth make it the perfect companion to winter cuisine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red colour. The nose reveals notes of small red fruits like raspberry and cherry. Light iron and spice notes, in good balance. The palate is fleshy, tannic, has very ripe fruit notes that combine with liquorice notes. Persistent finish." Falstaff
"Lots of clove spice; the presence of French oak is strong. Fragrant yet powerful. Damask-soaked red fruits, peppery intensity. Compact, smoky, charcoal-dusted fruit - really exciting and thrilling." Jancis Robinson
"Lots of spicy and meaty dried red and black fruit nuances on the nose, along with hints of walnut oil and pressed flowers. It's full but more nimble on the palate this year, with lots of bright dried fruit and an almost salty mineral freshness. The tannins are well integrated. Long and intense." James Suckling
"Made with a special selection of fruit, the Tenuta Sant'Antonio Famiglia Castagnedi 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi has a sweet-smelling bouquet with pressed fruit, candied cherry, rum cake and raisins. Unlike some of its peers from this cooler vintage, the wine is void of any of the herbal or medicinal aromas that appear in neighboring estates in 2018. In fact, the wine shows balanced results with a hint more firmness in terms of its tannic structure." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi opens with a dusty blend of blackcurrant and lavender, accompanied by notes of clove and mocha. The Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi shows the verve and finesse of the vintage, while exuding an undeniable elegance as the depth of the ripe red fruits is balanced by a bitter hint of dark chocolate. The 2018 finishes structured with fine-grained tannins, liquorice and violet flowers within." Vinous
"Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta in a blend that is a memorable version of Amarone. Classic tones of Marasca cherries under spirits on the nose, with a hint of pepper leaf, the palate is taut, fresh, dense, with excellent flavour persistence and the return of the balsamic trace." British Jancis Robinson, MW, (*1950), is the world's most respected and influential wine writer and taster. And probably the most diligent and well-travelled in any case. She studied mathematics and philosophy at Oxford. She came to wine in 1975, when she was hired as editor-in-chief of Wine & Spirits, a traditional magazine for the trade.
In 1979, she became the wine correspondent for the Sunday Times. Soon Jancis Robinson was known outside the UK as a columnist for countless magazines and TV shows. Wine-Spectator, Decanter, Feinschmecker, Falstaff and many other international magazines published her columns and reviews. In 1984, she was the first person not from the wine trade to pass the demanding Master of Wine examination. Since 1990, she has written the weekly wine column in the Financial Times.
Some of her many books have become standard works of wine literature. The Oxford Companion to Wine, The World Atlas of Wine (with Hugh Johnson), and Wine Grapes, in which she describes 1368 different grape varieties worldwide with Julia Harding (MW) and José Vouillamoz (one of the best-known grape variety geneticists). Since 2000, she has also been present online and, with her team of specialist journalists and Masters' of Wine, she reports daily from all over the wine world.
Her expert for Italy is Walter Speller. He was originally a buyer for Italian wines and also writes for The World Atlas of Wine, The Oxford Companion to Wine and Decanter Magazine. Walter Speller is highly regarded in Italy's wine industry as a serious taster. He now lives more in Padua than in London. His commitment brought the "Purple Pages" of Jancis Robinson significantly more recognition in Italy, too; the ratings are made according to the relatively strict 20-point scale. SUPERIORE.DE
