“Core” Aglianico Campania IGT 2016 · Special Edition “Core Mio” in Gift-Box

1 bottle of Core 2016 in a beautiful, high-quality gift box in a small edition. Careful when opening, many silky hearts could fall out ...

"Today we need lighter wines, they fit better to our hectic life", says the wise Silvia Imparato. And so we celebrate her second wine - an Aglianico with a fresh fruit scent and lively taste, elegant and complex without any trace of opulence. As we like it! SUPERIORE.DE

"Extremely well crafted with ultra-fine tannins and beautiful and subtle aromas and flavors of black fruit, black pepper and white pepper. Medium to full body. Polished and so enjoyable to taste. Can age beautifully." James Suckling

"Very deep purple-ruby; this is very dark for an Aglianico wine. Delicate on the nose and remarkably light on its feet, offering sweet blueberry, red cherry, sweet spice and floral flavors, similar to the aromas, that linger impressively on the juicy, long, clean finish. A knockout wine, and the best Aglianico ever from Montevetrano." Vinous

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2016 · Artist Label “Hiroyuki Masuyama“

La Grola is the historic vineyard that gave its name to Corvina, the autochthonous grape of Valpolicella, which is probably its origin. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini sparked an agronomic revolution and laid the foundations for the success of this wine-growing area, which today is home to great red wines from north-eastern Italy.

So it is not surprising that La Grola receives a special honour from its magnificent location. Since 2010, Allegrini has been collaborating with internationally renowned artists, publishing year after year a unique, limited artist edition. The edition opened with a work by Milo Manara, continued in 2011 with a label designed by Arthur Duff and continued in 2012 with a painting by Athos Faccincani. The composition VI by Wassily Kandinsky was selected for La Grola in 2013, and in 2014 the artistic journey went to Brazil and to Nazareno Rodrigues Alves, before returning to Italy with the 2015 edition to Leonardo Ulian.

The 2016 vintage was interpreted by a great Japanese artist: Hiroyuki Masuyama. In a highly innovative process, La Grola's Limited Edition ennobles the fascinating synthesis of overlapping shots. A total of 288 photographs are incorporated into this work, showing one of the legendary vineyards of Valpolicella from an exciting and completely new perspective. Time and space are the fundamental elements of Hiroyuki Masuyama's overall creativity: everything revolves around these two concepts, which have been formalised differently over the years and have become the hallmark of his work. Masuyama combines and overlaps the result of hundreds of photographs taken of his subject from a fixed angle. The result of this superimposition is another image of the same place.

    • "Castel Chiuro" Valtellina Superiore Riserva DOCG 2009

“Castel Chiuro” Valtellina Superiore Riserva DOCG 2009

120 years after the foundation of the winery, a new edition of a classic with special equipment (including a bound history booklet) is launched on the market. This high quality Nebbiolo comes from about 50 years old vines in the vineyards Sassorosso and Sassina, where the soils are very barren and stony. Clear ruby red, rich on the palate, powerful and complex with a wonderful elegance. The finesse and precision of the Nebbiolo grape are captivating from the first sip, and with increasing ventilation this rare drop reveals its complexity and structure. An anniversary wine, as it is written in the book! SUPERIORE.DE

"This is a gorgeous and beautifully aged expression of Nebbiolo from the high mountains in the far north of Italy. The 2009 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Castel Chiuro absolutely blossoms in the glass with rose petal, violets, wild blueberry and more tangy forest fruit. The wine shows a long and pleasurable succession of small red berry aromas such as cassis and raspberry. Those polished and elegant primary tones are followed by light brushstrokes of smoke, licorice and tar. This wine is an absolute beauty." Robert Parker

    • "Vigna Pirchschrait" Konrad Oberhofer Gewürztraminer Rarità Alto Adige DOC 2006
0,75l in OWC

“Vigna Pirchschrait” Konrad Oberhofer Gewürztraminer Rarità Alto Adige DOC 2006 · 0,75l in OWC

This dry Gewürztraminer from the Pirchschrait vineyard near Kolbenhof is intended as a homage to Konrad Oberhofer, who was the first to vinify the grapes of individual vineyards separately in the 1930s. The grandfather of Martin Foradori Hofstätter was a pioneer of thinking in plots. His aim was to make it possible to experience the special character of each location in the wine.

After ten years of maturation on the fine yeast in 500 litre barrels, the Gewürztraminer develops a dense texture without losing freshness. The fine yeast also gives it a charming aroma of toasted bread, medlars, blossom honey and dried fruits. On the other hand, the fruit sweetness, which is already low, declines discreetly in the years of ripening, while the minerality gains expression. In the glass, the top-growing Pirchschrait captivates with a subtle play of flavours. SUPERIORE.DE

“Valmaggiore Sibi et Paucis” Nebbiolo d’Alba Riserva DOC 2014 · 3 Bottles in OWC

For some years now, Luciano has been keeping a small quantity of his Nebbiolo Valmaggiore and has been allowing it to mature in his cellar further on the bottle. The result is a result under the name "Sibi et Paucis", which impressively underlines the cult status of his "little Barolo".

Ruby red and with a phenomenal fragrance - balsamic and earthy, but also finely fruity. The disciplined taste with the wonderfully balanced, velvety tannins merges into a long finish and is accompanied by fine fruit and mint aromas. Wonderful elegance with even more ageing potential. • "Nama" Cuvée Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2016

“Nama” Cuvée Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2016

NA as in Nals, MA as in Margreid. A tribute to two outstanding sites, where something special can be felt, seen and felt, and which have inspired cellarmaster Harald Schraffl to create something equally special from their grapes. A wine and essence that expresses the essence of the small plots in its purest form, whose typicity tells the South Tyrol of tomorrow, a timeless wine with recognition value in an international context. In 2016, this special marriage of Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes finds its way into the bottle for the first time. NAMA is born - a cuvée of 85% Chardonnay, married with Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon.

Harald Schraffl describes the wine like this: "The Chardonnay brings the power, the timelessness and the international length to the wine, the Pinot Blanc the regionality, the rootedness with our soil and our home, the Sauvignon the spice."

The vines for the Cuvée NAMA are between 30 and 40 years old. The grapes are harvested and selected by hand. After the gentle whole cluster pressing, the must is pre-clarified by natural, static sedimentation, fermentation and aging in small oak barrels for 18 months on the lees. The grapes are then assembled and aged together on the lees in stainless steel tanks for a further year. Afterwards the Cuvée NAMA is filled into the bottle, where it matures for another year.

“Vecchie Viti del Salco” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016 (BIO) · 3 Flaschen in Gift Box

Just 3,500 bottles from the yield of the oldest vines of the Salco vineyard are sold with beautiful labels in a fancy 3-bottle box. In the glass, we are delighted by an extremely elegant Sangiovese with a very harmonious texture and very classic, earthy-spicy notes. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark luminous, elegant and deep ruby red. Spicy-meaty nose at first, opens on classy rosemary notes, dried tomato, then lovely cherry. Punchy on the palate with tightly woven tannin, tense, salty mineral on the back end, great length." Falstaff

"From Salcheto's 2-hectare Salco vineyard, the Vecchie Viti is a selection of the oldest vines, which are upwards of 30 years old. After ageing in a combination of large cask and small tonneaux, this spends an additional 2 years in bottle before release. Yet it is still very nascent in expression. Smoke and mint emerge slowly weaving through wild berries. There is an irony undertow on the palate which is dense, ripe, concentrated and securely fastened by firm tannins. This is sinewy in its muscle and above all sophisticated." Decanter

"The Salcheto 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Vecchie Viti del Salco (made from organic fruit) occupies that special place between primary and tertiary intensity. The bouquet reveals plum and dried cherry aromas, but it also shows oxidative aromas of tar, spice and a touch of dried fruit or apple skin. This open-knit wine is drinking nicely right now. Made from old vines, this is an accessible wine of personality." Robert Parker

"New leather, forest-berry and rose aromas shape the enticing nose on this radiant red along with a balsamic whiff of camphor. The firm, elegantly structured palate features ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, licorice and crushed mint framed in tightly wound, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. It's linear and still youthfully austere, with great aging potential. Drink 2023–2036." Wine Enthusiast

Selezione “La Botte di Gianni” · Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2010 · Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2010 · 2x3 Bottles in OWC

Over the course of three decades, Gianni Masciarelli has created one of the leading wineries in Italy. He died far too early in the summer of 2008, his love was for the landscape, the people and the grape varieties of Abruzzo. For the wines he always chose Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo.

Today the winery is successfully continued by Giannis wife, Marina Cvetic and daughter Miriam. And they vinify with "La Botte di Gianni" his vision of Trebbiano and Montepulciano.

3 bottles of 0,75l | Trebbiano d'Abruzzo "La Botte di Gianni" Riserva DOC 2010

Of a rich straw yellow colour, clean, aromatic bouquet of ripe tropical fruit. On the palate very full-bodied, but beautifully clear, long finish. Finest Riserva quality. SUPERIORE.DE

"This shows the magic of whites from Abruzzo: bright and brilliant and intense with sliced limes, apples and minerals. Its full-bodied and wonderful acidity gives this wine tension and brightness. Named after the late Gianni Masciarelli, founder of the winery, only 892 bottles were produced of these. Think grand cru Chablis." James Suckling

3 bottles of 0,75l | Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "La Botte di Gianni" Riserva DOC 2010

Deep dark ruby sparkling, aromas of blackberry, elderberry, leather and some cinnamon. Dense tannin on the palate, much depth, tightly structured, elegant enamel, long. Finest Riserva quality. SUPERIORE.DE

"With only 869 bottles produced, the 2010 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo La Botte di Gianni is dedicated to the winery's visionary founder. Gianni Masciarelli died of a sudden heart attack in 2008. This beautiful rendition speaks directly to the personality of the man. This is a strong, stubborn, energetic and complex red wine with thick layers of dark fruit, spice and cigar box. The wine shows a firm tannic background and an uncompromising style." Robert Parker

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Rio Sordo Riserva DOCG 2015

"This wine usually falls somewhere in the middle of the Riserva continuum (starting with the most lithe and elegant wine and ending with the most powerful) presented by Produttori del Barbaresco in this knockout series of nine single-vineyard expressions. The 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo is another personal favorite. This group of Ovello, Rio Sordo, Asili and Rabajà (that sweet spot of neighboring vineyard sites in Barbaresco) is especially profound in 2015, striking a careful balance between elegance against power. The Rio Sordo offers tight and sharp fruit complete with a little tannic pinch or crunch on the close." Robert Parker

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Muncagota Riserva DOCG 2015

"Rose, red berry and star anise aromas align with earthy whiffs of forest floor and new leather. The full-bodied, delicious palate doles out succulent Morello cherry, black raspberry, licorice and chopped mint set against a backbone of firm but refined tannins. It's already gorgeous but will be even better with just a few more years of bottle age." Wine Enthusiast

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Pora Riserva DOCG 2015

"Following the suggestion of Produttori del Barbaresco General Manager Renato Vacca, I am starting off this series of nine Riservas with the 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Pora. This wine is usually the most delicate, slender and ephemeral of this set. However, I can immediately confirm that this is not necessarily the case with this exuberant 2015 vintage. The sunny heat of the growing season has successfully drawn out more fruit weight and intensity in this edition of Pora. The wine overdelivers in terms of aromas, but its streamlined and polished personality follows through to the palate. Those divergent intensity levels will smooth out with more bottle age." Robert Parker

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Ovello Riserva DOCG 2015

"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello has a very distinct character that is expressed in terms of its fine but present tannic structure and its somewhat fragile primary fruit. The Ovello dives straight into those ephemeral Nebbiolo aromas with an emphasis on licorice, tar, blue flower and campfire ash. If you consider this timeline of Riservas, this wine brings us through that magic threshold in which Nebbiolo starts to show its unique aromatic appeal and mystique. This is always one of my favorites in this series of nine." Robert Parker

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva DOCG 2015

"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is a stunning wine. The aromas rise from the glass with purpose, clarity and extreme definition. This is indeed a very special wine, thanks to the direct and linear quality of fruit and the elegant tannins that build the long finish. The Nebbiolo grape is elevated to a beautiful plain or plateau, where it shows off its naked beauty in a clear and unobstructed manner. The wine affords us a panoramic view of the Piedmont grape, planted in the white tuffaceous marl soils of Rabajà." Robert Parker

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Montestefano Riserva DOCG 2015

"This is the last wine I tasted in this group of nine from Produttori del Barbaresco. The reason I placed the 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano last is because it is usually considered to be the most powerful and determined in the flight. However, when you really get down to it, this vintage is more tight, streamlined and ethereal than expected. It is saving the best for later, and indeed, the wine is poised to evolve and open fully many years from now. There is a note of shyness here or restraint. This Riserva demands patience." 1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Pajè Riserva DOCG 2015

"Violet, new leather, perfumed berry and a whiff of face powder mingle together with camphor on this fragrant red. On the structured, polished palate, taut, refined tannins support succulent Morello cherry, mulberry and licorice. It's already tempting, but hold for even more complexity." Wine Enthusiast

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2015

"One of the protagonists in this group of nine, the Produttori del Barbaresco 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Asili shows bright cherry fruit, dried raspberry and blood orange. The wine's delicate aromatic layering continues with rusty iron, aniseed, tea leaf and camphor ash. Those lifted and vertical aromas contribute to the energy and vibrancy that this wine awards to the palate. The finish is extremely polished and tight, and those pretty flavors are folded neatly into the wine's silky texture. This wine has many years, or decades, of aging built into its inner clock." Robert Parker

1 bottle of 0,75l | Barbaresco Montefico Riserva DOCG 2015

"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico boasts a solid center of gravity with dark fruit, plum, spice and spent embers. Everything about this wine is sultry, velvety and succulent. It goes to follow that the wine's structure is more pronounced, contoured and shapely. This Riserva delivers more sheer fruit weight (in the context of the always elegant Nebbiolo grape) that is carried with grace and poise throughout." Robert Parker

Rare horizontal in a gift box of 3 - an exclusive and strictly limited selection of the Crus "Vigna L'Apparita", "Vigneto La Casuccia" and "Vigneto Bellavista" of the vintage 2011.

      1 bottle à 0,75l | "Vigna L'Apparita" Merlot Toscana IGT 2011 in gift box

Elegant Merlot from high vineyards, whose further development in the bottle fascinates again and again. Very inviting bouquet, ripe berry notes, elderberry and coffee. On the palate extremely fine and structured, dense, polished tannins, finishes very long and calm. SUPERIORE.DE

"Compared to 2010, the 2011 L'Apparita (100% Merlot) is a very different wine. It's impossible to imagine how Castello di Ama could improve on the utterly divine and delicious 2010, but I liked 2011 even more. Again, I just feel that this estate with its vineyards that reach beyond 500 meters in altitude performs best with warm vintages such as this one. Those who love Castello di Ama's wines will have to wait until the 2013 vintage is released. This is a gorgeous wine that sings in a loud and graceful voice. That extra cherry softness of Merlot has been pulled back to a perfect point. The wine offers layers of richness and suppleness. The effects are layered, complex and absolutely engaging. This is a standout wine." Robert Parker

"A deep and beautiful red with ripe berry, plum and orange peel character. Almost exotic in style. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a caressing texture. Goes on for minutes. So beautiful now but will be event better in 2018. Greatest L'Apparita ever?" James Suckling

"The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto La Casuccia is opulent and voluptuous with thick lines of dark fruit and spice that characterize the bouquet. More than heft and power, this wine delivers excellent complexity with layers of black truffle, grilled herb and cherry cola that add vertical lift." Robert Parker

"A wine of pure femininity and grace, the 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto La Casuccia is wonderfully fleshy and radiant in the glass. Rose petal, sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint and spices meld together as this effortless, supple wine shows off its undeniably appealing personality. Sweet, silky tannins wrap around a super-expressive finish laced with knock-out aromatics. The 2011 is firing on all cylinders today." Antonio Galloni

"Amazing aromas of crushed dark fruits with raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. Dried flowers and violets too, plus tanned leather. Full body, ultra-fine yet dense tannins and a finish that lasts for minutes. Stunning texture. One of the greatest Chianti Classicos ever made." James Suckling

The 2011 edition of the Gran Selezione from the Bellavista vineyard is rich and dark with aromas of wild cherry, smoke, liquorice, menthol and tobacco. Extremely attractive and full-bodied on the palate, firm tannins form the backbone of this virile, potent wine. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista opens to dark concentration, bold intensity and an immediate delivery of ripe fruit flavors. Stylistically speaking, this single-vineyard Grand Selezione is extracted, muscular and extremely fruit forward. The heat of the 2011 vintage comes through loud and clear. Happily, the mouthfeel is tighter and more focused with dusty minerality on the tannins and long persistency." Robert Parker

"Ama's 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista shows the darker, more brooding style of Sangiovese at Ama. Graphite, smoke, tar, licorice, incense and cloves wrap around a core of dark fruit. A wine of gravitas and vertical structure, the 2011 will reward several decades of cellaring. This is an unusually stern wine for the vintage though. Readers will have to be patient to experience the Bellavista at its best. Still, I can't help notice how much the 2011 has grown in bottle over the last year." Antonio Galloni

    • Brunello di Montalcino "Greppo" Riserva DOCG 2012

Brunello di Montalcino “Greppo” Riserva DOCG 2012

"I have always preferred balanced wines and wines with a special character. Wines that have a balanced relationship between body, smell, tannins and acidity. Old and also very old wines that have matured without losing their characteristic features. Wines that reflect the tradition of the wine-growing area and the local diversity". Franco Biondi Santi

Only 38 vintages of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva have been available since 1888 - 24 of which were produced under the direction of Franco Biondi Santi. 2012 Riserva is the last vintage supervised and dedicated to Franco himself. A milestone in the history of Biondi Santi. SUPERIORE.DE

"Warm, but not too hot summer, some precipitation at the end of August, September then cooling off; harvest on 10 September. Bright, powerful ruby-garnet, brightening edge. In the nose notes of fresh cherries, lots of pomegranate, in the background some saffron. Dense, powerful tannin characterizes the course, opens in many layers, salty and deep, has everything for a long life!" Falstaff

"A glorious nose to the wine with blackberries, plums, balsamic, mushrooms and bark. Floral. Some tile and terracotta undertones. Full-bodied with fine tannins and vivid, linear acidity running through the middle palate. Light toffee and smoke. Extremely long and lively. Traditional, yet very clean and beautiful. Drinkable now, but better after 2025." James Suckling

"Luminous garnet red. Perfumed nose of orange peel, cinnamon, sour red cherries, strawberries, talcum powder, and old fine leather, plus sneaky hints of slightly air-dried berries (not surprising, given how hot 2012 was, even taking into consideration that Biondi-Santi is one of the first estates to pick each year). Then juicy and dense with a silky mouthfeel to the flavors of red berries, blood orange and spices. Finishes long and silky now, but this specific Brunello Riserva was especially austere in its youth and so the estate decided to release it one year later than usual for sale. The wine carries an extra label "Dedicato a Franco Biondi Santi” (dedicated to Franco Biondi Santi) who passed away in 2013; CEO Giampiero Bertolino explained to me that everyone at the estate believed this wine was a real snapshot of Franco and the Brunellos he most enjoyed drinking, and so it was decided to dedicate it to him. Actually, there’s an air-dried quality to this wine that is absolutely enchanting, if in my opinion not altogether typical of Franco’s work. No matter, it’s one of the top three Brunello Riservas of the 2012 vintage." Vinous

"You will notice the dedication printed below the label of the wine label. It reads: "Dedicato a Franco Biondi Santi." Indeed, the Biondi-Santi 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is the last vintage made by the towering father figure of Brunello whom most everyone referred to as the "gentleman of Montalcino." Il Dottore, as he was also respectfully addressed, died at age 91 in April 2013, and he was very active in the winery as this magnificent wine took shape. This Riserva is a true work of beauty. It is released one year later than usual. The wine reflects the natural heft and power of the 2012 vintage, and it also shows that distinctive open-knit and accessible personality that characterizes this warm and sunny growing season. Il Dottore's magic touch is revealed in the level of fine detail and precision that transcends vintage, grape and territory. That extreme focus is an achievement of this estate alone located in the celebrated Il Greppo property. This Brunello pours from the bottle with a magnificent garnet color, and it evolves in the glass with dark fruit, candied orange peel, spice, licorice, anise seed, cola and balsam herb. The aromas are magical and ethereal, albeit slightly ripe and soft as expected of this vintage." Robert Parker

"2012 is considered a warm vintage, more dry than hot and with an advanced harvest on 10 September: quite early for a Sangiovese from higher vineyards in Montalcino. The age of the vines has helped to give the wine outstanding complexity. It shows the typical freshness of Biondi Santi with red currant, pomegranate and orris root aromas, becoming more austere on the palate with rhubarb radice flavour, firm acidity and firm yet ripe tannins. The extraction is great and the tight-knit integration between fruit and structural elements gives it the depth to age for decades." Decanter

"This is the final Riserva to benefit from the late Franco Biondi Santi's masterful hand. It boasts enticing scents of rose, underbrush, red berry, new leather and crushed mint. The chiseled palate features succulent Morello cherry, pomegranate, orange zest, star anise and a hint of tobacco, all framed in taut, polished tannins. Firm acidity lends youthful tension and keeps it impeccably balanced." Wine Enthusiast

Dark red cherries, mocha, flowers and spices are woven together beautifully in this soft (for Barolo), sensual wine. Silky tannins frame the rich, seamless finish. The 2007 probably won’t be a long-term ager, but my guess is most bottles will have long been enjoyed before that is an issue." Robert Parker

"Dark, garnet red colour. Rather discreet character with restrained fruit; however, well structured on the palate with excellent length." Markus del Monego

"Blackberries and flowers on the nose follow through to a full body, with chewy tannins and a mouth-puckering finish. Needs a number of years to soften. This is a new wine from the super winemaker Dominico Clerico." James Suckling

    • Brunello di Montalcino "Greppo" Riserva DOCG 1997
0,75l in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino “Greppo” Riserva DOCG 1997 · 0,75l in OWC

Greppo Riserva from the absolute top year 1997 - newly corked, as Biondi Santi does every 20 years also on behalf of customers - smells of flowers, licorice, red berries and spices. Elegance and perfection at the palate, long, supple, juicy up to the endless final. SUPERIORE.DE

"Optimal vintage, rain in spring, June and July dry and warm, refreshing downpours again and again in August; harvestin early September. Rich, sparkling ruby garnet. Shows nice ripe cherry fruit on the nose, some plum, plus blackberry, the warmth of the vintage is also evident in the riper flavors. Firm and sturdy on the palate, gripping, dense tannin, lots of ripe fruit, surprisingly broad for Biondi Santi." Falstaff

"The celebrated 1997 vintage was, generally speaking, overestimated in Tuscany and most of the wines are today more evolved than expected. It was considered one of the best vintages of the 20th century for two key reasons: it was the warmest harvest of the cool 1990s, and there were some excellent wines from the coolest spots for Sangiovese. Biondi Santi's steep hill of Il Greppo and its BBS11 clone loves warm vintages and certainly they have pushed the reputation of the year. The quality of this Riserva is immediately clear: the outstanding freshness of the attack is still there, and the palate shines for the savoury red berries melded with hints of wild fowl, liquorice stick and Earl grey, increasing its citrus elegance. It displays the perfect balance of structural elements, still tense with velvety tannins. The sweet cherry kernel flavours sit on a broader than usual palate, with not quite firm acidity." Decanter

"A ripe expression, showing broad shoulders, this is still monolithic and dense at 15 years. Cherry, plum and stony aromas and flavors are supported by fresh acidity and dusty tannins. The tight finish contains a mineral element. Opens up with time in the glass, but could use another 5 to 10 years of aging." Wine Spectator

"The Biondi-Santi 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva was never previously reviewed; therefore, I am very excited to add an official record of this stunning wine to our database. This vintage delivers structure and age-worthy intensity that should carry it forward successfully for more years ahead. However, if you decide to pop the cork now, rest assured that this excellent Brunello has now entered its prime drinking window. The bouquet is polished and fine, with wild fruit aromas that segue to balsam herb and licorice. The finish is long and extremely polished. This is a real beauty." Robert Parker

    • Barbaresco Crichët Pajé DOCG 2010
0,75l in OWC

Barbaresco Crichët Pajé DOCG 2010 · 0,75l in OWC

"Transparent ruby red with crimson tapered edges. The ethereal perfume of a complete Arabian bazaar with colorful cloths, incense sticks and brightly colored, piled up exotic spices comes directly to mind when you put your nose into the 2010 Barbaresco Crichët Pajé. Incense and myrrh, sandalwood and precious cedar wood exude an odeur like in 1001 nights. Spicy notes of cloves, allspice, mace and pepper are mixed with cherries, laurel and raspberry jelly, currant leaves and floral top notes of orange blossom complete the pleasure. In the drink Crichët Pajé presents itself with great calm in a steady flow. Nothing here is impertinent or exuberant, but radiates with distinguished elegance - an equilibrium in perfect balance. The aromatic exuberance of the nose is disciplined on the palate by the long, calm flow of focused, cool acidity, on the banks of which fully ripe and fine-grained tannins grow. Silky with almost aristocratic noblesse, its enormous complexity reveals itself in the second sip, when the aromas begin to unfold in the epic echo like a massive Win-Zip file. A wine for today, for tomorrow and for many, many more years to come. Unchallenged world class." Sebastian Bordthäuser (Sommelier und Wein-Journalist)

"A ripe, savory style, with a fruit profile that leans toward cherry and plum compote flavors, accented by coffee, soy, tar and mineral notes, all supported by a dense layer of chunky tannins. Despite the mature fruit profile, this is surprisingly fresh on the finish, with excellent length. Still a youngster, this should age for decades." Wine Spectator

"The 2010 Barbaresco Crichët Pajè is one of the most captivating and arrestingly beautiful wines I have ever tasted from Roagna. Intense, penetrating Nebbiolo aromatics make a strong opening statement before the 2010 literally takes over all the sense. Medium in body and yet also remarkably deep. Rose petal, kirsch, dried herbs, hard candy, mint and sweet spice develop in the glass, but it is the wine's sense of harmony that really stands out. The 2010 spent five years in cask (one less than normal), a choice that paid off handsomely." VINOUS

Brunello di Montalcino “Cerretalto” DOCG 2012 · MAGNUM in OWC

Superb - the Cerretalto 2012, a plant from a historical top location in the west of Montalcino. In the bouquet, spicy accents and aromas of soft sour cherries and blackberries give the scent. The impeccable taste impresses with its dynamic and weighty character, the dense tannin with good supporting effect, the respectable acidity and a first class finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"A rich, deep ruby with a garnet shimmer. Intense and complex nose, with dark cherries, violets, fresh, juicy plums, olive paste and dried tomatoes, very inviting. Rich, firm base on the palate, lots of warmth, dark, ripe fruit, dense tannin interwoven with sweet enamel, salty and long, for lying clean!" Falstaff

"The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto offers a prolonged, flowing and carefully massaged drinking experience that drapes over the senses with some studied intensity and lots of intriguing complexity. This wine nails that perfect balance between power and elegance (that elusive exchange that so many winemakers hope to achieve) with effortless precision. Bold cherry fruit and spice are tightly woven together. In the mouth, the wine shows texture, depth and succulence. Generally speaking, this is not my favorite vintage in Montalcino, but this wine suddenly made me forget that thought." Robert Parker

"Flavors of medicinal herbs, juniper, macerated cherry, plum, tobacco and spice are the hallmarks of this intense red. Ripe and concentrated, yet sleek and focused, with spice notes chiming in on the long, minerally and firmly tannic finish." Wine Spectator

"The density is so impressive in this great single-vineyard wine of Casanova. It's full yet agile at the same time. Shows such integrated tannins and fresh acidity at the finish. Energized and focused. Tangy and citrusy. Mineral undertone. One of the great Brunellos of 2012." James Suckling

Barbaresco Crichët Pajé DOCG 2011 · 0,75l in OWC

"Transparent ruby red with a crimson fading rim. Spicy notes of cloves, allspice, mace and pepper mingle with cherries, bay and raspberry jelly, currant leaves and floral top notes of orange blossom complete the delight. On the palate, Crichët Pajé presents itself with great calm in a steady flow. Nothing is brash or exuberant here, but shines with distinguished elegance - an equilibrium in perfect balance. The aromatically exuberant nose is disciplined on the palate by the long, calm flow of focused, cool acidity, on whose shores fully ripe and fine-grained tannins entwine. Silky with an almost aristocratic nobility, its enormous complexity is revealed in the second sip when the flavors begin to unravel in the epic finish like a massive Win-Zip file. A wine for today, for tomorrow and for many, many more years to come. Undisputedly world class." Sebastian Bordthäuser (Sommelier und Wein-Journalist)

"Made with extremely old vines, the youngest of which are over 60 years old and most much older, this opens with aromas of new leather, scorched earth, underbrush and balsamic notes of camphor. Concentrated and boasting a great depth of flavors, the structured, full-bodied palate delivers raspberry compote, dried black cherry, carob and hazelnut alongside firm, enveloping tannins. Another compelling wine from the estate." Wine Enthusiast

"This red is full of mulled plum, cherry, menthol, stone and spice flavors. Concentrated yet fluid, with a tightly packed finish. Well-balanced and approachable now if decanted." Wine Spectator

"It's easy to fall into the cult of Crichët Pajé. The wine's name means "little hill" in Piemontese dialect, and the winemaking process is carefully weighed and contemplated. The Roagna 2011 Barbaresco Crichët Pajé is fermented with indigenous yeasts, with submerged cap and sees eight long years of aging in both oak and cement. Fruit is drawn from a half-hectare, south-facing parcel high on the Pajé slope that has been farmed by this family since 1953. The bouquet reveals wild berry fruit, rose hip, cedar, crushed stone, smoke and licorice. This expression is lightweight in texture, yet it expertly balances a full load of aromas and flavors on that small frame. The heat of the vintage has not hurt the freshness or the sharpness that you perceive here." Robert Parker

"Just bottled, the 2011 Barbaresco Crichët Pajè is unbelievably refined. Sweet red cherry, rosewater, mint, dried flowers, pine and kirsch give the 2011 an upper register of perfume that is utterly beguiling. Silky and classy to the core, the 2011 is the most sensual Crichët Pajè I can remember tasting. There is plenty of tannin, that is clear, but it is also pretty much buried by the sheer luxuriousness of the fruit. This is such a gorgeous and complete wine. There is just an unreal amount of freshness for this dry, torrid year. Wow!!" Vinous

"A highlight of my Piedmont tasting tour this spring was my visit with Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta. We met at the modern Campè winery that is located at the bottom of the next hill over from the historic Castello di Grinzane Cavour, an important landmark for the entire Barolo appellation. Upon my arrival, I was greeted to a long table fitted with an equally long line of wine bottles. I counted 35 of them. It’s a good thing I had built in extra time before my next tasting appointment that day. The La Spinetta wines are truly outstanding. I would especially like to draw your attention to the late-release wines (produced in magnum only) from the 2007 vintage." Robert Parker

Barbaresco "Vigneto Gallina" Riserva DOCG 2007

"Only in the best vintages, La Spinetta releases magnum-only editions of its top wines. These wines are generally released ten years after the harvest following additional bottle aging (and one extra year of oak) under the most stringent conditions back at the winery. This year, one of these absolute gems is the 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Gallina (Magnum). I am a huge fan of the sheer elegance produced in this vineyard. This quality has been harnessed to perfection in the case of this wine. It is beautifully evolved, long and silky. Yet, the primary fruit sings loudest of all. This is a delightful achievement." "The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Starderi (Magnum) immediately flaunts the density and important structure that is associated with this celebrated vineyard site. This is an overtly generous and bountiful expression of Nebbiolo that offers thick layers of aromatic intensity. The wine's best asset is the intact and vibrant quality of the primary fruit—so presented now, eleven years after the harvest. This is an expensive bottle for sure, but it does award a delicious and unforgettable experience." Robert Parker

"This wine represents a crowning achievement among an elite group of magnum-only delayed releases. The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Valeirano (Magnum) is nothing short of magnificent. It is intense and articulate in ways you don't expect. Specifically, I am referring to the vibrant and dazzling quality of fruit that is traveling full speed ahead. Nothing about this wine has slowed down. In fact, I would expect this beautiful interpretation to pick up further speed and complexity as it continues its evolution. This wine is old but also new, sweet but also savory and powerful but also elegant. It is a wine of profound contrasts that find impeccable unity despite those inherent contradictions. Congratulations to La Spinetta." Robert Parker

Each decanter for "La Collezione 2008" - "L'Athanor Cosmic Fornace" was handcrafted. Five glass artists are involved in the production of a single bottle. The designer is Luca Cendali and the glass art manufacturer is no less than Venini in Murano. With the so-called balloon technique and silver leaf, a design object was created that symbolizes the "Athanor", the philosophical furnace for the production of the Philosopher's Stone - or "The Cosmic Furnace", the cosmic furnace (guardian of the immortal flame). The valuable decanter in three colour variations (amber, red and aquamarine) is supplied in a cassette made of fine walnut wood.

The ÙE distillate of Picolit grapes from the 2007 harvest is already a visual sensation: crystal clear and of enchanting charm. The nose experiences pure elegance with the scent of wildflower honey, acacia blossoms and notes of fine figs. On the palate the olfactory impressions are confirmed, excellent and persistent.
