• 1924 Prosecco Spumante di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG Brut
0,75l in OWC

1924 Prosecco Spumante di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG Brut · 0,75l in OWC

"1924" is a reminiscence of the founder Antonio Carpenè, who was instrumental in the development of the Prosecco Spumante as we know it today. The production is also special, with a beautiful reproduction of the label of that time: the necessary second fermentation on the yeast in the pressure tank (autoclave) lasts a full 25 days, which leads to a finer development of the bouquet, the aromas and the perlage. This high-quality Prosecco Superiore presents itself in the nose fine-fruity after ripe fruits and white blooms, in the taste it is full of character with a beautiful acidity, the correct dose of yellow pomace fruit and subtle almond note. This noble bubble / sparkling wine is a prime example of the DOCG and a more than appropriate appreciation of the inventor! SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, brilliant silver with fine perlage. In the nose of melon, smoke, slightly greasy, flintstone. On the palate balanced and fine, rests elegantly in itself, juicy, opens clear and balanced, in the aftertaste further juicy and slightly salty, long". Falstaff

    • "La Grola" Rosso Veronese IGT 2016
Artist Label "Hiroyuki Masuyama"

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2016 · Artist Label “Hiroyuki Masuyama“

La Grola is the historic vineyard that gave its name to Corvina, the autochthonous grape of Valpolicella, which is probably its origin. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini sparked an agronomic revolution and laid the foundations for the success of this wine-growing area, which today is home to great red wines from north-eastern Italy.

So it is not surprising that La Grola receives a special honour from its magnificent location. Since 2010, Allegrini has been collaborating with internationally renowned artists, publishing year after year a unique, limited artist edition. The edition opened with a work by Milo Manara, continued in 2011 with a label designed by Arthur Duff and continued in 2012 with a painting by Athos Faccincani. The composition VI by Wassily Kandinsky was selected for La Grola in 2013, and in 2014 the artistic journey went to Brazil and to Nazareno Rodrigues Alves, before returning to Italy with the 2015 edition to Leonardo Ulian.

The 2016 vintage was interpreted by a great Japanese artist: Hiroyuki Masuyama. In a highly innovative process, La Grola's Limited Edition ennobles the fascinating synthesis of overlapping shots. A total of 288 photographs are incorporated into this work, showing one of the legendary vineyards of Valpolicella from an exciting and completely new perspective. Time and space are the fundamental elements of Hiroyuki Masuyama's overall creativity: everything revolves around these two concepts, which have been formalised differently over the years and have become the hallmark of his work. Masuyama combines and overlaps the result of hundreds of photographs taken of his subject from a fixed angle. The result of this superimposition is another image of the same place.

We are pleased to be able to offer you some copies of the special edition, which is strictly limited every year!

Dense, dark ruby red, in the nose very full-bodied and strong with tones of forest and overripe berries. The rich fullness from coffee to black cherries is accompanied by present, pleasant tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"Lovely balance, as always, to this super Veronese red with juicy dark fruit and hints of black chocolate. Medium to full body, succulent tannins and a fresh finish." James Suckling

"Very inky and toasty nose. On the palate the wine is elegant, fresh and poised with classy, well-integrated oak, flavours of plums and cherries and tight tannins, which will soften in time." Decanter

    • "Castel Chiuro" Valtellina Superiore Riserva DOCG 2009

“Castel Chiuro” Valtellina Superiore Riserva DOCG 2009

120 years after the foundation of the winery, a new edition of a classic with special equipment (including a bound history booklet) is launched on the market. This high quality Nebbiolo comes from about 50 years old vines in the vineyards Sassorosso and Sassina, where the soils are very barren and stony. Clear ruby red, rich on the palate, powerful and complex with a wonderful elegance. The finesse and precision of the Nebbiolo grape are captivating from the first sip, and with increasing ventilation this rare drop reveals its complexity and structure. An anniversary wine, as it is written in the book! SUPERIORE.DE

"This is a gorgeous and beautifully aged expression of Nebbiolo from the high mountains in the far north of Italy. The 2009 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Castel Chiuro absolutely blossoms in the glass with rose petal, violets, wild blueberry and more tangy forest fruit. The wine shows a long and pleasurable succession of small red berry aromas such as cassis and raspberry. Those polished and elegant primary tones are followed by light brushstrokes of smoke, licorice and tar. This wine is an absolute beauty." Robert Parker

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2013 · Artist Label “Wassily Kandinsky” in Metal Tube

In contrast to the works of previous years, which were specially made for the icon wine, the 2013 vintage is the first to bear an existing, internationally renowned work. With the kind permission of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, La Grola bears the "Composition VI" by Wassily Kandinsky in 2013. Kandinsky is one of the great masters of abstract painting. He was an artist of Expressionism and one of the pioneers of abstract art. And here we can clearly see the connection between artist and wine, because both Kandinsky and Allegrini are visionaries in their fields.

"Well-spiced and herbaceous, this well-meshed red frames flavors of ripe currant, espresso, dried fig and smoke with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Harmonious." Wine Spectator

"More cabernet coming out on the nose with dark berries and light chocolate. Full body, lightly chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows length and intensity." James Suckling

"The 2013 La Grola represents a blend of 90% Corvina Veronese and 10% Oseleta. Past editions saw a small part Syrah but this is no longer the case. The wine's appearance is rich and deeply saturated with an inky black color. The bouquet revs up slowly with black prune and plum followed by spice, tar, road paving and cured meat. The effect is extra thick and dense. In the mouth, La Grola displays syrupy richness with both savory and slightly sweet mahogany spice. The wine rests in once-used barrique for 16 months." The edition for 2014 was designed by the innovative Brazilian artist Nazareno Rodrigues Alves. His graceful and very detailed naturalistic drawings show the animals that live in the vineyards and are without doubt the best witnesses of the meticulous work of the Allegrini family. The work deals with the rebirth of life and the diverse presence of wildlife, protected by sustainable agriculture.

For the 2015 vintage, Allegrini collaborated with Italian artist Leonardo Ulian, who, inspired by James Frazer's "The Golden Bough", created the link between the literary work and wine. The work represents impressively how interwoven the narratives are with the emergence of the wine and the vine rows in the vineyard.

"Elegant and harmonious, this medium-bodied red offers fine, creamy tannins and fragrant hints of spice and leather lacing the baked black cherry, date, dried thyme and mineral notes. Long and supple on the finish." Wine Spectator

"A blend of 90% Corvina Veronese and 10% Oseleta, this alluring red opens with aromas of wild berry, tobacco and a whiff of coffee bean. It's elegant and full bodied, offering ripe plum, black cherry, star anise and ground pepper alongside taut fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"The 2015 La Grola is a terrific wine, both food friendly and accessible. The blend is 90% Corvina with 10% Oseleta, which adds color and richness to the overall wine, thanks to the grape's small and compact berry size. You get terrific value here in a wine that has the aromatic intensity and textural fiber to stand up to barbecued meats or tri-tip. The fact that the wine's tannins are slightly more contained and soft means La Grola would beautifully match those spicy and smoky flavors." Robert Parker

"Brambleberries, underbrush, bracken, cedar and loads of dark cherries and plums. Full body, fresh acidity and a tangy, medium-long finish. A very well poised red that’s beautiful to drink now, but should improve within a couple of years." James Suckling

“Valmaggiore Sibi et Paucis” Nebbiolo d’Alba Riserva DOC 2013 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Luciano has been holding back a small amount of his Nebbiolo Valmaggiore for several years now and has it matured further on the bottle in his cellar. The result is a result under the name "Sibi et Paucis", which impressively underpins the cult status of his "little Barolo". Ruby red and with a phenomenal fragrance - balsamic and earthy, but also fine-fruity. The disciplined taste with the wonderfully balanced, velvety tannins merges into a long aftertaste and is accompanied by fine fruit and mint aromas. Wonderful elegance with even more ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

“Vigna Pirchschrait” Konrad Oberhofer Gewürztraminer Rarità Alto Adige DOC 2006 · 0,75l in OWC

This dry Gewürztraminer from the Pirchschrait vineyard near Kolbenhof is intended as a homage to Konrad Oberhofer, who was the first to vinify the grapes of individual vineyards separately in the 1930s. The grandfather of Martin Foradori Hofstätter was a pioneer of thinking in plots. His aim was to make it possible to experience the special character of each location in the wine.

After ten years of maturation on the fine yeast in 500 litre barrels, the Gewürztraminer develops a dense texture without losing freshness. The fine yeast also gives it a charming aroma of toasted bread, medlars, blossom honey and dried fruits. On the other hand, the fruit sweetness, which is already low, declines discreetly in the years of ripening, while the minerality gains expression. In the glass, the top-growing Pirchschrait captivates with a subtle play of flavours. SUPERIORE.DE

    • Terlaner Weißburgunder Alto Adige DOC 2005 Rarità
0,75l in OWC

Terlaner Weißburgunder Alto Adige DOC 2005 Rarità · 0,75l in OWC

The choice of grape variety and vintage for the rarity wine of the Terlan Winery are secrets that remain strictly guarded for a long time - until a few weeks before the official presentation. Towards the end of winter 2017/18, the Terlan Winery traditionally presented its strictly limited rarity wine. The decision of the winery management fell on the Pinot Blanc 2005.

The rarity wine symbolizes Terlan's longevity: "The wines are first aged in large wooden barrels for less than a year, then lie on the fine yeast in 2,500-litre steel tanks for their long maturation before they are bottled and remain in the bottle for another year until they are ready to drink," says cellarmaster Rudi Kofler, explaining the complex production process. This goes back to the old cellar master Sebastian Stocker, who - following the models of French viticulture - began to let the wines mature longer on the fine yeast.

"Firm, distinctly green-vegetable, also somewhat violent fragrance with noble citrus aromas, distinct mushrooms and earthy notes with a hint of bacon. Mature, bitter, melty fruit with nutty, clearly mushroomy and somewhat vegetable notes, fine acidity, yeasty tones, persistent and close to the palate, much strength and substance, very fine acidity and some grip, good depth, much younger than the nose at first suggests, a little tobaccoy, resinous herbs salty minerality, long, multi-layered, juicy, catchy and vegetable finish with clear fennel notes."Markus Hofschuster

At present, 15 white wines of the most varied varieties are stored in small steel barrels, dating back to the first rarity vintage in 1979. "The wine has deep, delicate aromas and an extremely salty structure. He will probably reach his full potential in a few years," says Rudi Kofler. Weißburgunder 2005 is the fourth rarity wine to be stored under the expert direction of Kofler. Already in 2002, the Weißburgunder of the house was selected as Rarità for the first time. "Crystalline deep straw yellow. Perfumed nose offers ripe apricot, yellow apple and crystallized lemon peel, complicated by marzipan and powdered stone. Wonderfully sappy, silky and deep, with the crushed-lemon, apple butter, and sweet spice flavors complemented by saline minerality and spectacular inner-mouth perfume. The bright acidity gives the very long finish an outstanding thrust, while suave and dense with hints of apple butter, marzipan and showcasing marvellous acid-sugar-fruit balance. This library wine spent ten years on the fine lees, and was just released, so the vintage you are reading is not a typo." Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)

"This wine lands high on my list of Italy's best white wines released this year. Benefitting from ten years of aging in sealed stainless steel pressure tanks, the 2005 Alto Adige Terlano Pinot Bianco Rarity is a precious and carefully crafted rendition. The bouquet is fine and etched with plenty of soft stone fruit, peach, pear and honey. Subtle background roles are played by spice, smoke and crushed mineral. This is an age-worthy Pinot Bianco from a sunny and warm vintage that offers texture and volume. It should age gracefully for many years ahead. Only 3,500 bottles exist. The wine is simply stunning." • "Vigna Pirchschrait" Konrad Oberhofer Gewürztraminer Rarità Alto Adige DOC 2008
0,75l in OWC

“Vigna Pirchschrait” Konrad Oberhofer Gewürztraminer Rarità Alto Adige DOC 2008 · 0,75l in OWC

    • "La Grola" Rosso Veronese IGT 2016
Artist Label "Hiroyuki Masuyama"
6 Bottles in OWC

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2016 · Artist Label “Hiroyuki Masuyama” · 6 Bottles in OWC

In each wooden box of 6 there is a bottle with Masuyama's exclusive artist's label.
