“SOLCO” Lambrusco dell’Emilia IGT 2022 semisecco
Dark cherry red with violet reflections. Intense aroma of sweet, preserved Amarena cherries and sour cherries, with a delicate herbal flavour, very inviting. Sweet fruit again on the palate, embedded in a fine, sparkling mousse, long-lasting and fresh, with a lively acidity on the finish. A fine aperitif, but also a very good accompaniment to hearty pasta dishes. SUPERIORE.DE

“Il Repertorio” Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2021
"Il Repertorio" - "The Register". Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti's wines recall his father's notarial world with their names.
Expressive and uninhibited, the Aglianico Il Repertorio meets us. Dark berries, a herbal bouquet of mint, rosemary, black olive, thyme and sage, plus tones of leather and liquorice. An extremely fascinating and fresh wine from start to finish. Intense and delicate at the same time, elegant and rustic. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose shows complex aromas of spicy oak, dark chocolate, dried herbs, dark cherries and liquorice. Firm and youthful on the palate." Decanter
"Lavender, plums, black and red currants and some white pepper on the nose. Fresh and youthful with full body, fine-grained tannins and a very clean finish." James Suckling
"A hauntingly dark display of crushed blackberries, lilac and lavender evolves in the glass as the 2021 Aglianico del Vulture Il Repertorio slowly comes to life. It’s silky and sleek, also decidedly savory in style, with tart wild berry fruits propelled by saline-tinged acidity. The 2021 finishes staining and structured, leaving a bitter tinge of exotic spice offset by sour citrus. This imposing vintage of Il Repertorio is built for the cellar." Vinous

“Mantele” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2020
Sparkling yellow-green. The elegant, floral-scented Sauvignon Bianco Mantele is irresistible with beautiful varietal typicity and a pleasingly slender waistline. Fine mineral notes on the palate give play, overall very juicy and fresh. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elderflower, greengage and lime aromas with a lemon tart character on the palate; fresh and crisp with a grassy finish." Decanter
"Intense bright straw yellow. In the nose gooseberry, sage and ripe stone fruit. On the palate juicy, nice freshness, round and full-bodied, salty and with a long finish." Falstaff
"Classic varietal aromas of elderflower, crushed tomato leaves and citrus come to the fore. The palate is full-bodied with juicy grapefruit, peach, dried herbs and salt, framed by racy acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"The Nals Margreid 2020 Alto Adige Sauvignon Mantele is one of the classic white wines of this winery with exotic fruit, grapefruit and fragrant pear. This pretty wine is fresh and lean, with a good sense of tension and energy. It is the winery's "classic" interpretation of the grape variety, offering a little more structure on the finish. It plays its best cards in terms of mouthfeel. The Sauvignon Blanc vines are planted near the winery and are 40 to 45 years old. They are some of the first vines planted with Guyot in South Tyrol." Wine Advocate
"A ripe and complete Sauvignon Blanc with an amazing complexity of fresh herbs and a hint of passion fruit on the nose. Beautiful textural complexity on the concentrated but only moderately rich palate. Long, complex finish with stimulating herbal and mineral vitality." James Suckling

“Catullo” Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC 2018
The grapes for this noble Valpolicella come from calcareous marl soils from the terraced vineyards of the Novare winery. Similar to the Amarone process, the grapes undergo a second fermentation on the sweet skins of dried grapes in March after the harvest. Animating in the glass with intense fruity aromas, wonderfully soft tannin structure and beautiful persistence. This multilayered, luxurious wine does not have to hide behind its big brother! The porphyry-rich steep slopes on the Ritten above Bolzano offer first-class conditions for producing a Sauvignon Bianco with unique fruit, minerality, elegance and depth. Straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. Precise fruity flavours of gooseberry, elderflower, herbs, yeast and a fine woody note. Harmonious flavour with very well-integrated acidity, an accentuated body and an elegant mineral note. Long and deep on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Subtle aromas of grass and citrus with a hint of roasted nuts; racy and crisp with a finish of candied lemon." Decanter
"Bright, intense straw yellow colour. Initially restrained on the nose, with mineral and spicy notes, as well as subtle fruit and floral aromas. Hints of tropical fruit, but above all crisp and powerful on the palate with very well-integrated acidity and an elegant final." Falstaff
"Brilliant deep straw. Unmistakable old-school Italian Sauvignon Blanc, gooseberry and kiwi. Minerally, salty hints, too, while the oak is hardly discernible. Much more distinctive and characterful on the palate, with gooseberry fruit and lemon peel. Refreshing and elegant, medium weight. Will disappoint no one." Jancis Robinson

SUPERIORE.DE
"Young light red; reductive, fresh, fruity, peach; round, juicy, fruit deep, long, very nice." (JLF) Merum
"Juicy, crisp, light and playful, with exuberant energy running on a trail of white peppery acidity and a gentle drive of herbal tannins. Red limestone. Strawberry, mountain herbs, crushed musk and lilac. A great substitute for a Cru Beaujolais. A delicious drinking pleasure that reflects the current zeitgeist of quality fruit without dryness, tension and joyful immediacy." James Suckling

“DUBL EDITION 1 BIANCO” Metodo Classico VSQ brut
Feudi di San Gregorio's DUBL project was born in 2004 from an awareness of the great richness of the autochthonous vines of the Irpinia region and the desire to open up new horizons for them: as a Metodo Classico Spumante or by means of the famous Méthode Champenoise. An advisor was quickly found for this - none other than Anselme Selosse, who is known for his champagnes and his feeling for the particularities of the vines and vineyards.
A quarter of the base wines of this top product is aged for 6 months in oak barrels, then the cuvée matures for 2 years in the bottle on the fine lees before it is disgorged. Strong light yellow and a super-fine perlage. On the nose, light fruit, yeasty notes and nuances of fresh bread. On the palate then powerful, fresh, with beautiful spice and a potpourri of stone fruit, fine honey notes and toasted almonds. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex nose with aromas to sweet lemons, apples, chamomile, grapefruit and toasted notes. Dry on the palate, vibrant and crisp." Decanter
"This is a cuvée of Greco and Falanghina aged on the lees for 36 months. The sparkling Feudi di San Gregorio NV Dubl Edition I Brut will be released in March 2023. This wonderfully sparkling and fresh wine displays a fine and sharp perlage with pomelo fruit, bitter almond and white peach." Wine Advocate

“Stegher” Chardonnay Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2020
The steep porphyry slopes at an altitude of up to 650 metres on the Ritten above Bolzano offer ideal conditions for vinifying this powerful yet elegant Chardonnay with outstanding balance, well-integrated acidity and excellent ageing potential. Straw yellow in colour with greenish inclusions. Pure exotic flavours of pineapple, mango and white peach on the nose, underpinned by a delicate vanilla note. Powerful on the palate, the well-integrated acidity keeps it fresh and mineral despite its power and complexity, right through to an almost infinitely long finish. A great Chardonnay from South Tyrol! SUPERIORE.DE
"Delicate green apple and alpine flowers with a pronounced lemon peel character; juicy and succulent with a crisp finish." Decanter
"Yellow with delicate greenish hues. Pleasant floral notes and hints of white fruit flesh on the nose. In the mouth, beautiful, refreshing acidity and excellent suppleness with a citrus finish." Falstaff
"Brilliant straw yellow. Lemon, green apple and bread crust on the nose. With aeration, the oak comes out more clearly. Lemon, melon and green-apple palate tied in by subtle, creamy oak but without making the whole heavy. Long, refreshing and refined." Jancis Robinson
"The Cantina Produttori Bolzano 2020 Alto Adige Chardonnay Riserva Stegher shows a soft, medium-bodied texture with flavours of orchard fruit, honey, pie crust and pasty cream. This vintage also shows good freshness, with fruit harvested from very steep vineyards in the hills near Bolzano at 650 metres above sea level." Wine Advocate
"An attractive Chardonnay that exudes apple crumble, pastry, mango and custard on the nose. It's full-bodied and buttery, with plenty of pastry and pie crust character on the long, flavourful finish. Drink or keep." James Suckling

“Grieser Prestige” Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2020
Deep dark ruby red. Powerful, warm Lagrein with a distinct aroma of ripe blackberries, cherries, fine mountain herbs, pepper and smoky grilled charcoal notes. The full, juicy-cherry flavour is beautifully balanced with a wide, long finish. Only selected grapes from the best sites with low yields in the vineyard are used for the Lagrein Riserva Prestige. An absolute top red wine of the South Tyrol region! SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red. In the nose of ripe crisps, some rum pot, in the aftertaste green-spicy and toasted bread. Spans juicily over the palate, tightly meshed tannin, followed by present acidity, spicy on the final, fine, juicy finish on lush cherries." Falstaff

“Ben Ryé" Passito di Pantelleria DOP 2021 dolce
Ben Ryé - the great naturally sweet and world-famous white wine from Donnafugata. The grapes are harvested in mid-August and left to dry naturally for 20 to 30 days. In September, the later ripening grapes are harvested and processed fresh. The hand-picked raisined berries are added to the must in several stages during fermentation. Light orange yellow in colour. Overwhelming aromas of apricot, peach and orange peel. Creamy notes of passion fruit and peach on the palate with an impressive elegance and length. For us, one of the best sweet wines in Italy every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant orange with golden reflections, elegant. Enormous aroma of peaches and peach tea, honey, honeycomb, with a fine hint of nutmeg, dried apricots, bergamots and oranges. Wonderfully balanced on the palate, creamy-oily texture, with clear, radiant peach fruit, well-balanced interplay between sugar and acidity, lingers endlessly in many layers, with a final of dried figs." Falstaff
"Complex flavours of sultanas, caramel, honey, iced tea, peaches and vanilla. Creamy on the palate, with a zesty acidity." Decanter
"The 2021 Ben Ryé is a real pleasure. It seduces with a bouquet that mixes sweet smoke with mandarins, mint leaves and cloves. Like pure nectar, it envelops everything it touches on the palate with ripe fruit trees and tropical melon. Sweet spices and sour citrus fruits contrast towards the end. The finish is savoury and long, leaving a dusty, floral note and a hint of candied ginger and lime. Ben Ryé is always an absolute delight and, in my opinion, one of the best dessert wines in Italy. This single varietal Zibibbo finishes with 197 grams of residual sugar per Liters." Vinous
"A rich, luxurious sweetie, with flavors of orange glacée, pink grapefruit sorbet, spun honey, apple peel and butterscotch melting on the palate like cotton candy. A bright tang of citrusy acidity and a touch of salinity give this good cut and form, while fragrant hints of lavender, cardamom, white chocolate and Earl Grey waft in on the long, lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"This wine has a light copper colour and a copper-coloured aroma. On the nose, yellow peaches and dried apricots play with various orange notes. On the palate, stone fruit and citrus continue to shine before a warm, honeyed, almost syrupy finish reminiscent of a beeswax candle." Wine Enthusiast

“Andrius” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2021
Sauvignon Andrius matures on the lees for six months and is a lively, well-structured white wine with great varietal typicity. Ripe peaches, dried apricots, juicy honeydew melon, candied almonds, flowers and a hint of mint and white pepper combine with the elegant style to create a remarkable overall picture. Great class! SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant, powerful, typical Sauvignon Blanc nose, but with a more complex and herbaceous flavour. On the palate, the wine is more linear and powerful with a distinctive mineral-salty note on the finish." Weinwisser
"Bright straw yellow with sparkling reflections. Slightly reductive and restrained on the nose, showing notes of juicy lemons, meadow herbs and cold smoke as well as fine wet stone after a little time. Racy and precise on the palate, the fruit stays in the background, builds up full-bodied and remains on the palate for a long time, will be able to mature well." Falstaff
"Vibrant citrus and stony-mineral characters with a juicy, ripe gooseberry texture, fresh acidity and a leafy finish." Decanter
"Well cut and fresh, almost statuesque, but with a sense of balance and grace, while flavours of kiwi, lime granita, melon rind and chive blossom accompany the slightly chalky texture, along with mouth-watering acidity and a hint of salinity." Wine Spectator
"The partially oak-aged 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Andrius shows bright citrusy notes, tropical fruit, green papaya and freshly squeezed lime. The wine is lean in terms of mouthfeel, but the aromas deliver extra dimension to the lifted flavor profile of this varietal-expressive release." Wine Advocate

“3 Cru” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2018
The latest addition to the Guerrieri Rizzardi Amarone family comes from three cru vineyards in the municipality of Negrar, including the best Calcarole vineyard. The grapes are dried in the Pojega drying rooms for 3-5 months without any technical aids. 3 Cru is available earlier than Villa Rizzardi or Calcarole and offers complex dark fruit flavours with a very pleasant sweet spiciness on the palate. Fresh and lively, it glides into a respectable finish with plenty of character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby colour with a dark core, fine garnet notes on the rim. Inviting and clear nose of preserved cherries and plums, with some liquorice in the background. Compact and full-bodied in attack and finish, lots of dark cherry, juicy, then unfolds with gripping, dense tannins, juicy, tobacco flavours on the final." Falstaff
"Very generous nose with aromas of dried fruit, roasted coffee and smoky nuances. Muscular tannins on the palate, rich." Decanter
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 3 Cru 2018 smells of crushed raspberries, cloves and a hint of mint in the glass. On the palate, it is soft and supple, not as concentrated as you would expect, with pretty red fruits and floral notes. It finishes with medium length and slightly grippy tannins as the purple florals fade away on the inside. The 2018 benefits from the juice normally used to make the Riserva Calcarole." Vinous
"An attractive Amarone, harnessing clear red fruit and camphor, with tinges of alpine cool, anise and menthol and just the right amount of oak. Pliant and palpable but not excessive. This drinks very well. I’d age it just a little longer to take the heat off the sweet fruit, but with food it might not be necessary. Long, effusive and impressive." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Beautiful and very well-balanced red wine from the three main historical areas of Montalcino, which have different geoclimatic characteristics due to their different slopes and altitudes - and thus provide a unique balance between freshness and structure, body and elegance. Ruby red in colour with garnet hues, it opens immediately with a rich, complex nose. Initially dark cherry, chinotto orange and violet. It then opens up to broader, more complex notes of blueberry, vanilla, tobacco, cinnamon and chocolate with a subtle menthol finish. The primary fruit is surrounded by spice, grilled herbs and floral earth; nice length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Warm dark red; reductive, warm, ripe fruit flavours, inviting; juicy, fine, fruit, pleasant tannin, long." Merum
"Tart, somewhat dried-vegetable to herbaceous and a hint of tobacco on the nose, predominantly black berries with a hint of black olives and capers, cumin, fleshy traces and some smoke. Youthful, quite taut, juicy fruit, present, ripe tannins and a certain acid bite, roasted nuances, again also black olives, plus a little coffee and coffee grounds, salt in the background, quite firm structure, persistent, slightly chocolaty on a very good finish." Wein-Plus
"Sparkling, brilliant ruby red colour. Delicate orange zest, cedar wood, rosemary and rosehip on the nose, with a floral touch and cherry. Juicy, clear on the palate, with youthful tannins, savoury and accessible, showing a fine juicy-salty touch." Falstaff
"For the 2018 vintage, Val di Suga has rebranded its labels to reflect its updated approach in the vineyard and cellar. This includes a less oxidative style of Brunello that spends less time in wood and more time in the bottle. However, the estate's classic Brunello is still a blend of the three different vineyard sites in Montalcino. The smoky, autumnal nose has aromas of rooibos tea with hints of cranberry and rosehip. It's lean in shape, has strong acidity and offers a lovely sweetness of red berry fruit and flowers, while light tannins provide a graceful frame. Ready to drink." Decanter
"A filigree red wine with aromas and flavours of sweet red berries, rose, truffle, game and minerals, supported by firm but refined tannins, with a long finish. It is suitable for eating now, but will be even better in a year or two." Wine Spectator
"A solid product from a winery that has now reached a very reliable standard. Sour cherries on the nose, floral notes of peony and medicinal herbs, dried thyme, with a balsamic finish. Dense mouthfeel, spicy tannins, fruity finish." Luca Gardini
"The nose is a well-stocked kitchen, with coffee always ready, a decadent spice drawer and expensive balsamic, and the aromas of cherries and soil wafting in from the garden. On the palate, notes of vanilla and candied orange underscore the cherries' juicy sweetness, while the savory notes linger as undertones, before lithe tannins and hot acid usher in a long finish." “Perlé" Metodo Classico Trento DOC 2017 brut
A terrificvintage sparkling wine that is only produced in the best years, when the upper hills around Trento have a fantastic Chardonnay harvest. Over four years of ageing on the lees gives the Perlé its shimmering golden colour, creamy texture and fine, never-ending perlage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with light golden reflections. The nose initially smells of cold butter, a little roasted hazelnut, with candied lemon peel and a hint of sea salt. Shows effervescent perlage and a clear centre on the palate, then opens up elegantly and finely, compact, with a light blood orange final, solid every year." Falstaff
"The Brut Perlé Trento 2017 combines lively ripe apples and pears with enriching notes of raw almonds and white flowers. It opens with a pretty inner sweetness contrasted by salty minerals that add a pleasing crunch, while ripe orchard fruits give way to a hint of hazelnut. Despite its size, the 2017 is remarkably fresh, finishing with candied ginger and a tart hint of Granny Smith." Vinous
"White nougat with toasted almonds and fresh sponge cake dominate the nose of this always-reliable Italian stalwart from the Alpine heights of Trentino. Made from estate-grown fruit only, this is an elegant sparkler with its vivid, altitude-induced freshness countered by subtle richness and supported by fine mousse. Purity, briskness, real depth and poise: you just want to take another sip." Decanter
"An iconic perlé, symbolising the ambition and prospects of Italian sparkling wines, first produced in 1971. Pure apple, notes of hawthorn and roasted dried fruit, savoury drink, with a fruity-amber return and beautiful persistence." Luca Gardini

“Vigneto di Campolungo” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto di Campolungo offers an interesting potpourri of ripe fruit, including blackberry, cassis and small wild strawberries, rounded off by a warm woody spice. Modern and polished on the palate, with a beautiful fruity centre, it is multi-layered, with plenty of pressure and length and balanced tannins as it progresses. The vines grow at an altitude of around 500 metres, which gives this cru a wonderful freshness and plenty of drinkability. Should gain in elegance with further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright cherry aroma with liquorice and star anise. Smooth texture, firm tannins, shows good typicity with good length." Decanter
"On the nose, the fresh sweetness of cherries and strawberries is balanced by the lightly bitter astringency of orange jam and fennel. The fruit sweetens and deepens on the palate thanks to a rich, full mocha flavor, but strict, imposing tannins and acid preserve order." Wine Enthusiast
"With flavours of black cherry, plum, chocolate and iron, this rich red wine impresses across the board. Fresh and refined, with velvety tannins that support the long-lasting aftertaste, while notes of eucalyptus and tobacco enhance the complex finish." Wine Spectator
"The organically grown Lamole di Lamole 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto di Campolungo draws its fruit from a long row of vineyards stretching from the hill of Lamole towards Greve and orientated towards the sunset. This wine is creamy and medium-bodied with blackberry jam, tarry spice and earthy orris roots." Wine Advocate

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2018
Zenato's Amarone is all about elegance, with ripe fruit at the centre of the inviting bouquet with light notes of aromatic herbs. Powerful, sparkling ruby colour. Very appealing and multi-layered nose of plum, black cherry and a hint of leather. The palate reveals its overripe power, fine tannins and warm, expansive flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright garnet red with a broad, brightening rim. Baroque bouquet on the nose, of sultanas, preserved cherry and varnish. Powerful on the palate, slightly warming, with a fine-grained tannin structure, mouth-filling and extremely long on the tongue." Falstaff
"Very ripe nose with aromas of dried sultanas, toffee, angelica and dark plum fruit. Powerful, soft and warm on the palate." Decanter
"A harmonious version, round and medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins wrapped in a fragrant blend of macerated cherries and strawberries, tea roses and tea leaves, minerals and spices. Juicy finish." Wine Spectator
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018 is exotic in the glass, with nuances of blood orange and mint that fade into preserved cherries and cloves. Supple and round on the entry, it impresses with its core of lively acidity and vividly ripe red fruits, which create an interplay of sweet and sour on the palate. The wine finishes with depth and concentration, but is also unexpectedly fresh and allows notes of plums and autumnal spices to linger for a long time. For this vintage, this is an extremely successful achievement. I take my hat off to Zenato." Vinous
"Very aromatic, with flavours of dried red and black fruits, including dried blueberries and dates, along with a lovely, spicy layer of nutmeg and pressed flowers. Full-bodied with an amazingly harmonious texture on the palate, thanks to the dense, very fine tannins, which also provide super length. A bright, salty, mineral note sets in and drives the finish even further. Exquisite Amarone." James Suckling

“Olmaia” Cabernet Sauvignon Sant’Antimo DOC 2016 (BIO)
Beautifully matured Cabernet Sauvignon that underlines its rich, fleshy fruit with graphite and liquorice aromas. Its broad, full and balanced flavour, polished tannins and fruity, elegant style build up to a long, balsamic finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with a brightening rim. Rich pepper, cassis, cranberry, leather and undergrowth on the nose. Hearty and impetuous on the palate, stretches very powerfully over the tongue, gripping, with a rich pressure, balsamic touch and minimal dryness in the finish." Falstaff
"A vibrant, concentrated red, offering black cherry, black currant, iron, tobacco and spice aromas and flavors. Though dense, this is also fluid, with excellent balance and length." Wine Spectator
"Olmaia has developed into a brand in its own right. The wine emphasises the potential of Cabernet Sauvignon in this part of Tuscany, an area where Sangiovese is grown almost exclusively. The 2016 Sant'Antimo Cabernet Olmaia reminds us of the importance of diversity in a monoculture, which allows us to better understand the potential of a growing area. This wine has a dark colour and a dense concentration of colour. It is certainly broad and full-bodied, but it transcends the senses with nuanced grace. Black and purple fruits segue into earthy tobacco, cured leather and dark spices. These flavours are particularly finely tuned in this classic vintage." Wine Advocate

"Aromatic dried herb and cherry notes with a supple rounded palate, powerful tannins and a long, tarry finish." Decanter
"Bright ruby garnet. Smells of rosewood, wild raspberries and pickled nuts on the nose. Gripping tannin that spreads out well, shows good tension, lots of raspberry fruit, juicy, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Deep red and dark berries on the nose, along with floral and leathery notes. Full-bodied with grainy tannins infused with spice and fruit. It is approachable now but should age for a long time. Best from 2023." James Suckling

Lunare Traminer Aromatico has an intense straw-yellow colour and a complex bouquet of roses, cloves and lychee. Its flavour is very full-bodied with the slightly bitter finish typical of Traminer. This successful Gewürztraminer is an excellent accompaniment to liver pâté, white meat dishes and refined pasta dishes with sauces and creams. SUPERIORE.DE
"Exuberant flavours of crushed flower petals, lychee and tropical fruit; rich and textured with a fragrant Turkish Delight character and cleansing acidity." Decanter
"The Gewürztraminer Lunare has soapy tones of dried flower, natural rubber, latex and sweet tropical fruit. Almond paste, Indian coconut candies and Iranian jasmine soap gave this wine a very exotic personality." Wine Advocate

“Ugo Contini Bonacossi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
This impressive red comes from the single vineyard "Vitticciana", which was created by the "Godfather of Carmignano" Ugo Contini Bonacossi especially for a pure Sangiovese wine due to its perfect orientation. It is only produced in the best years, when it presents itself as a multi-layered wine with fine fruit and fine-grained tannins. After a few years of ageing in the bottle, it can easily hold its own with some of the best Brunello di Montalcino. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, medium ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Red sour cherries and pickled plums on the nose, with some verbena and spice in the background. Velvety tannins on the palate, well-balanced, still a little young on the final." Falstaff
"A hint of floral and spicy notes, with beautiful, pure fruit underneath. Very well-managed tannins and a long finish." Decanter
"A hint of dusty spices and pencil shavings accompany the ripe cherry and plum fruit flavours. Juicy and very lively on the palate with medium to full body and firm, metallic tannins that are firmly attached to the finish. Needs time." James Suckling
"The 2018 Ugo Contini Bonacossi, a varietal Sangiovese, evolves in the glass with a rich blend of cherry and plum sauce, accentuated and lifted by hints of sage and sweet mint. This is velvety smooth yet full of zesty energy, with a core of nervous acidity that enlivens its sour red and black berry fruits. The 2018 finishes long and staining yet light on its feet, leaving edgy tannins to resonate as the cheeks pucker with youthful tension. I expect the 2018 to evolve sooner than bigger vintages, but with that said, it is no less pleasurable." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Lisini's vineyards are located between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate on the inner edge of the Sesta area and are cleansed by the constant breeze from the Tuscan coast. The stony soils with a significant proportion of limestone and the altitude of over 300 metres help to maintain the freshness of the wines. The 2018 is wonderfully fragrant, almost exotic. Plump red fruits and sweet summer herbs fill the mouth, but instead of being heavy, it is balanced and transparent. The powdery tannins are fine and lead to a long, maritime finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep, shiny ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Very closed and backward on the nose. Cherry on the palate with a slight hint of dried fruit, but much more convincing than it sounds. Long yet restrained on the finish, with fine-grained tannins that only reveal their complex depth at the very end. Skilfully made, and there is more to come." Jancis Robinson
"Warm, fragrant aromas of red berries and flowers open the round; elegant attack, but also with character, melting and good length. Pleasing with its elegant yet powerful texture." Vinum
"Very classic Sangiovese nose, dark cherries, sour cherry (Marasca), fine wood, very classic style on the palate too, incredibly juicy with fine spice and salty hints, compact but by no means rustic, rather balanced and with a lot of structure. Compact juiciness. Wonderful presence, noble elegance, fantastically integrated acidity and tannins. Beautiful piquancy. Stony and firm style. Long-lasting." Weinwisser
"Like a kid in a sweet shop, it's a pleasure to take in the candy, medicinal cherry, blueberry compote and liquorice aromas of the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino. While the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is silky and elegant, it is also racy and full of character, as the red and black berries are complemented by notes of cinnamon, cloves and a bitter hint of cocoa. The 2018 finishes powerful and long, but only slightly structured, which suggests a certain amount of ageing, but also that it is showing off all its skills. Almost a minute passes and nuances of violet pastilles and red sweets still linger." Vinous
"Strawberry liqueur with herbal notes on the nose. Juicy and refreshing, modern in style, but promising for the coming years." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of medium volume and intensity with dark fruits, ripe cherries, black plums, spices and sweet floral earth. This theme of sweetness continues on the soft, lightly structured palate. The wine is ready to drink in the short to medium term; the tannins are round and ready, and it finishes with bright acidity." Wine Advocate
"Rich and deep, with base notes of plum and loamy earth balancing the flavours of cherry, hibiscus and eucalyptus. Dense, with muscular tannins and a lively acidity to support it. The long aftertaste is reminiscent of earth and Mediterranean scrub." Wine Spectator
"Dark, bright ruby red colour. Fragrant, inviting nose of ripe wild berries, candle wax, fine spicy tones and some liquorice. On the palate, with pithy tannins that beautifully envelop the clear fruit, balanced and elegant." Falstaff
"Dark fruit aromas stretch across the nose but don't entirely mask hints of vanilla, pencil shavings and a salty, peppery stoniness. On the palate, the vanilla escalates to initially further emphasize the dark fruits, before new undertones of bitter orange and meaty umami elements emerge. Acid zips around dense tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Sant'Angelo in Colle, a wine of excellent juiciness that expresses Lisini's great craftsmanship. Notes of dogwood, then chinotto and juniper. The palate has juicy tannins, beautiful citrus-olfactory nuances and a fruity return." Luca Gardini

For the 20th time, wines from all over the world were judged by the leading wine experts at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA). The number of wines tested this year was once again impressive, with a total of 18,250 wines from 57 countries being tasted, including 2,777 wines from Italy alone. With this number, the Decanter World Wine Award has again set a new record this year for the most wines submitted. A total of 236 wine experts from 30 nations took up the challenge, including 53 Masters of Wine and 16 Master Sommeliers.
The Decanter was founded in London in 1975. The best-known authors, some of them Masters of Wine, write for the opinion-forming medium, including Jancis Robinson, Peter Mc Combie or Michael Broadbent. Italy is covered by several authors, recently led by Ian D'Agata and Chris Mercer, as well as some wine journalists based in Italy. In addition to various regional rankings and the election of the Top 50 Wine-People, the annual Decanter World Wine Award is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world.
The tasters know the region, the style and the price range, but they do not know the winemaker. They then compare notes on the wine and come to a consensus with their colleagues on the points and medals for each wine. The medal categories correspond to the 100-point rating system used by Decanter and many of the world's top wine critics.
The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) are undisputedly among the most influential wine competitions in the world and the tasting notes are considered must-reads, not only among enthusiasts. In this section you will find a selection of the best wines from this year's competition, which not only caught the eye of the jury. SUPERIORE.DE
