• "Naturalis Historia" Taurasi DOCG 2014

      “Naturalis Historia” Taurasi DOCG 2014

An excellent wine and a modern interpretation of the Taurasi and Aglianico grapes, but without denying their identity. Complex on the nose, full-bodied and wonderfully concentrated, the precise taste with soft, fine-grained tannins and almost endless length. SUPERIORE.DE

"Very deep ruby with a pale rim. Aromas of smoke, red and dark cherry, plum and violet, complicated by earthy notes. Flinty on entry, then sweet, rich and smoky, offering long, juicy plum and saline flavors." Vinous

"Although this Taurasi is very ripe with loads of blackberry essence, it also shows undeniable complexity, revealing tar, vanilla, dark chocolate, mocha and coffee beans. Full-bodied and plush, but then a wall of potent, mouthwatering acidity cuts straight through the dark-fruited center palate. A wine of contrast." James Suckling

    • "Serpico" Aglianico Irpinia DOC 2012

      “Serpico” Aglianico Irpinia DOC 2012

Serpico is an authentic, long-lasting wine made from Aglianico grapes, some of which come from vines over 100 years old. Intense, deep ruby red colour and an extremely complex bouquet with aromas of cherries, sweet spices, liquorice, coffee and cocoa. Impressive its extraordinary concentration and aroma as well as the enormously long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2012 Irpinia Aglianico Serpico comes from pre-phylloxera vines and the wine is aged in both new and neutral oak. Serpico represents Feudi di San Gregorio's best fruit and the wine philosophy is modern and rich, stylistically speaking. Dark prune, blackberry, spice, licorice, tar, tobacco and balsam herb contribute to the complex bouquet. The mouthfeel is richly textured and velvety. This wine needs a few more years before the fruit reaches full focus." Robert Parker

"Dense tannins are swathed in a tightly woven cloth of crushed black currant, tarry mineral, dried thyme and licorice snap flavors in this rich, full-bodied red. Long and focused, with a lasting, aromatic finish." Wine Spectator

"Forest floor, leather, tilled soil, ripe berry and balsam are some of the aromas you'll find in this delicious red. The smooth, dense palate delivers blackberry jam, espresso, licorice and ground pepper flavors, blanketed with soft, silky tannins. Tobacco and graphite notes linger on the finish." Wine Enthusiast

"A red with chocolate, spices and hints of oak on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Always a big yet structured and agile red." James Suckling

"A great Irpinian Aglianico which balances power and refinement. From the 400m-high Dal Re vineyard, only 10,000 bottles were produced. Hugely concentrated with impenetrable colour. Although there is great fruit density here, the wine retains wonderful lift. It saw 12 months’ ageing in new oak before five years in bottle. Will live 50 years." Decanter

“Core” Aglianico Campania IGT 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC

"Today we need lighter wines, they fit better to our hectic life", says the wise Silvia Imparato. And so we celebrate her second wine - an Aglianico with a fresh fruit scent and lively taste, elegant and complex without any trace of opulence. As we like it! SUPERIORE.DE

"Extremely well crafted with ultra-fine tannins and beautiful and subtle aromas and flavors of black fruit, black pepper and white pepper. Medium to full body. Polished and so enjoyable to taste. Can age beautifully." James Suckling

"Very deep purple-ruby; this is very dark for an Aglianico wine. Delicate on the nose and remarkably light on its feet, offering sweet blueberry, red cherry, sweet spice and floral flavors, similar to the aromas, that linger impressively on the juicy, long, clean finish. A knockout wine, and the best Aglianico ever from Montevetrano." Vinous

    • Radici Taurasi DOCG 2015
MAGNUM in OWC

Radici Taurasi DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC

A very special wine made from overripe and strictly selected Aglianico grapes, which grow on Mastroberardino's south facing vineyards. The Taurasi is aged in oak barrels for two years and rests in the bottle for one year. A wine with a fascinating personality, strength and a very high storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby. Grilled meat, nutty spice and smoke, with overripe red-cherry fruit beneath. Focused, ripe red-cherry fruit on the palate, with precision of fine-grained, fairly firm tannins. Precise, direct and linear, but by no means simple, carrying smoky, saline, rocky mineral savoury layers. Long. Classy." Jancis Robinson

"Fresh and focused, this elegant, medium- to full-bodied version features plush tannins married to ripe cherry and raspberry fruit. A subtle underpinning of loamy earth and an aromatic skein of saffron and spice unravels on the long finish." Wine Spectator

"Fully saturated ruby. Aromas of woodsy underbrush and red cherry, plus a dusting of crushed stones and red flowers. Refined and perfectly balanced on the palate, conveying a seamless quality to the dark and red fruit flavors. Finishes very pure and long with mineral accents. Lovely." Vinous

"The Mastroberardino 2015 Taurasi Radici is a dark and savory wine with thickly stacked aromas of black fruit, tar, licorice and campfire ash. This is a baritone Taurasi from a warm and sunny vintage that boasts concentrated and rich flavors as a result. Despite the evident power you get here, Taurasi has a beautiful manner of staying focused and sharp nonetheless. This wine demonstrates that quality very nicely." Robert Parker

"I love the spicy and lifted notes here of caramelized orange peel, dried meat, blackcurrants, pomegranate, sea urchin and bark. A seamless and wonderfully elegant, medium-bodied palate follows with finely grained tannins and loads of floral undertones. This wine is all about transparency and subtlety. Best Radici in years." Bright, powerful ruby, aromas of cherry, red currant, cocoa and tar. Juicy, spicy and bright, with firm acidity and tight tannins that give it definition and lift the aromas. Very fresh and precise, persistent and smooth. Has excellent potential. "The dark and brooding 2014 Taurasi Riserva Radici is geared for the cellar, yet already thrilling to taste. Here I’m finding a mix of crushed tart cherries, blackberry, and plums, offset by savory herbs, orange rind, and a hint of mocha. On the palate, velvety textures coat the senses, slowly giving way to a complex blend of citrus-tinged dark fruits and saline-minerals, as fine tannin saturates the senses. The finish is long and classically structured, clenching the palate, yet leaving a pretty display of spiced orange and inner florals. There are many years of evolution in store for the 2014 Riserva. The patient consumer will benefit from losing a few bottles in their cellar for at least five to ten years." Vinous

"Really complex aromas of iodine, spices and blackberries with some clove, pepper and pumice undertones. Full-bodied, yet so balanced and focused with really fine tannins. Extremely long with some tar highlighting the fruit. Fantastic release. Reminds me of some of the great Taurasi from the 1960s from here." James Suckling

"Here's another great vintage from Elena Fucci, the ascending star of a rising wine region in the deep south of Italy. The 2015 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo shows a dark garnet color and robust appearance. Very characteristic of this extreme territory, this is a dark and penetrating wine with etched mineral notes behind blackberry, plum and savory spice. This vintage presents an even darker quality of fruit. In the mouth, you get iron, blood and dark mineral nuances that are absolutely typical of these darkened volcanic soils." Robert Parker

"Fresh and well-meshed, this is a medium- to full-bodied red, with creamy tannins and a rich note of smoke-tinged mineral underscoring the lovely range of ripe black cherry, dried thyme and fig cake flavors and hints of ground cumin and white pepper. This is round and finely balanced, with a long, lingering finish that echoes the spice and mineral detail." Wine Spectator

"Elena Fucci crafts one single wine. The piercing and focused Titolo exudes incense, violet, dark earth and black cherry. Volcanic soil translates with vibrant energy. Muscular rather than plump and built to last." Decanter

"On the ‘Titolo’ lava channel, at 650m of altitude, grows this extraordinary Aglianico. It expresses its volcanic lava and ash origins - known locally as ‘pozzolana’ - and soil combined with altitude here contribute to bring this masculine grape to perfect ripeness. Dark in colour and meaty on the nose, it shows anchovy, iodine and tell-tale incense minerality. It has a firm, well extracted mid-palate and is slightly chalky on the finish, yet in a relaxing drinking style." Decanter

"Elena Fucci's 2016 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo is a wine built for the long haul. It should continue its steady evolution over the next 20 years if not more. Stitched together with enormous precision, the wine offers balanced intensity and a beautiful level of fruit purity that speaks both to the Aglianico grape and the extreme territory that shapes it. This vintage finishes on a dry note with fine texture and elegantly integrated tannins. The wine is aged in barrique for 12 months, of which half is new oak with various levels of toast. The vines range from 50 to 70 years old and are planted up to 650 meters above sea level. Some 28,000 bottles were produced." Robert Parker

    • Radici Taurasi DOCG 2010
6 Bottles in OWC

Radici Taurasi DOCG 2010 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Most of the grapes for the Radici Taurasi come from selected areas around Mirabella from volcanic soils and a smaller part from Montemarano, mainly from southern exposure with clay soils. Juicy dark cherries, cinnamon, plums, spices, incense, tobacco and a variety of aromas and flavours flow from the glass. On the palate it is tight and not a bit playful, but of good structure. The acid-tannin ratio and the almost unrestrained power of this wine indicate a long and very positive maturation period. SUPERIORE.DE

"Wonderful aromas of ripe berries, pepper and flowers follow through to a full body with round, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. But it remains in balance and check. A gorgeous Taurasi!" James Suckling

"Deep ruby-red. Refined aromas of red cherry, tobacco, oak and delicate herbs. Dense, rich and suave, with harmonious acidity lifting and extending the red fruit and sweet spice fruit flavors. A lovely wine with sneaky concentration." VINOUS
